Location is perfect, just two tram stops from the Hauptbahnhof (fast trains to and from the new Willy Brant Airport) But so quite and peaceful, rooms and apartments look over an urban garden full of green and mature trees, quite idyllic and perfect for kissing your girlfriend in the quiet of an evening. We would recommend the studio apartments as these are extra large. There is a lovely smell of polish and old Berlin which is very welcoming when you enter the corridors and rooms. The rooms are furnished with retro but very fitting period furniture. There are lifts in the old block and the staff are very welcoming and very helpful. A lovely place if you want some quiet place in a busy city and a very different sort of hotel to the usual chain.

Don’t even think about it, it's not a boutique hotel but an average hostel at most: 1. When we arrived at 6:30 pm we had to check in independently and carry our luggage up three floors (since there in no elevator in the hotel). 2. The building is old and not maintained. 3. We got tiny stuffy room, the pics on web site do not reflect reality. 4. The location is bad. 5. Service is bat in fact we did not get any service 6.the "famous garden" is actually small & neglected 7. the only thing that resembles a boutique here is the outrageous price.

Dear davidov1976, thank you for your feedback. I have had to read your review several times. You stayed in our hotel for 3 days. If everything is as bad as you described it in your review, the question arises for me why you didn't speak to our receptionists the morning after your check in. We would have been happy to help you find a hotel of your choice. But you haven't even been with us during your entire stay. We would certainly have found a solution together. But I would like to go into your individual criticisms. It is true that unfortunately we could not greet you personally on the day of your arrival. As in all industries, it is unfortunately also in the hotel industry that we are looking for new employees, but can`t find any employees. So we have to switch to the fact that we only have to occupy the core hours of our reception and then check in our guests independently. Yes, it is correct that our private hotel is located in a historic building. This is also in all publications that are about us. We are very proud that we can reside in a listed building from 1845. Perhaps you have overlooked this when choosing our hotel. The photos of the rooms are about 8 weeks old and not processed. I attach great importance to this. The room you lived in was completely modernized this year and is even one of my favorite rooms. It's a pity that you don't like my style. The size of our garden is certainly a matter of opinion. But I think with a size of almost 1,000sqm it is a decent size, for the fact that we are only 10 minutes from Berlin Central Station or 20 minutes on foot from Friedrichstrasse / Brandenburg Gate. I don't really have to point out that a garden cannot offer the flair in winter as in summer. It`s a pity that you made your displeasure clear on the internet and didn't even give us the chance to talk about it during your stay. Of course, a good solution would have been found in any case. Since the charm and individuality of our small private hotel from 1845 apparently did not appeal to you, it would surely have been possible without any problems to arrange a room in one of the neighboring large chain hotels for you. We wish you a peacful christmastime Kind regards Andrea Grassow Manager

Dear atwos63, thanks a lot for your review here on Tripadvisor, we appreciate it. It`s a pity that you said our furniture is ugly. First, that is a matter of taste ;) We have colonial furniture in our rooms, they are really special and not older than 2 years. But we are happy that you loved the rest :) Kind regards Stefanie Guest Relations Manager Garden Boutique Hotel Berlin

What a fabulous haven of loveliness in a great spot in Berlin. - very warm & friendly welcome - Great Garden Room with private terrace set in beautiful garden space with fish pond - gardens so well layed out & lovely to look at - waking up to birdsong is a wow factor - Breakfast is fresh, plentiful, varied & very good value for money ( cereal, fresh fruit, pastries, good variety of bread & rolls, fabulously crispy croissants, meats, cheeses, hot buffet, juices, tea coffee ) - could not fault it in any way - staff brilliant at helping with travel & directions as we explored Berlin - 5 mins from train & tram stops albeit we walked almost everywhere - decor is amazing & all public areas in hotel decorated with traditional charm & character to match the building - location excellent with many great coffee shops, restaurants, cafes on the doorstep. Huge thank you to the team at The Garden Boutique - we had an absolutely unforgettable experience staying with you & exploring Berlin - BIG thank you to Maxi the Cat for being so handsome & adoreable

The hotel is in a great location, just outside the busy areas but well within reach of all the city. The garden is beautiful and the staff are really helpful. Lovely breakfast with lots of choice. I’d definitely stay here again when visiting Berlin.

I came here with my husband on our mini moon holiday. The room was quite nicely decorated, but didn’t have a fridge, and the whole hotel had no atmosphere at all. It was eerily quiet and you could hear everything your neighbour is doing and it feels like you have no privacy. The garden is very overrated- pictures look better than reality. Oh, and the free coffee SUCKED. Never tasted such crappy coffee in my life! Also, breakfast was very expensive and tasted terrible. They had no food labels so you have no idea what you are eating. Luckily there was a lovely austrailian cafe down the road. We didn’t feel like this was a special holiday for a honeymoon at all. We were dissapointed.

Dear Lundenr, we do not want to leave the review of your stay in our hotel unanswered. As you describe your stay, our hotel was probably not really the right choice for you. The fact that you think that our hotel has no atmosphere, surprises us a bit. The feedback of the majority of our guests praises the ambiance and the great family atmosphere of our house. There is no fridge in any of our rooms. For environmental reasons, we decided to install only a central refrigerated cupboard in our lobby, just like many other hotels do. This is accessible 24/7 for our guests. There you can take cooled drinks and also have snacks. The photos of our garden have been taken without any filters or editing modules. Just as the garden is in nature! Our breakfast costs 12,00€ per person and day and this is an extremely low price for the Berlin hotel industry. With the offered dishes we listen to the feedback of our guests, change or complete the offer, so that you can start well breakfasted in the day. Also that the coffee during the breakfast taste not good for you, we are sorry for that! It`s a bit pity that you did not talk to our reception team during your stay. Maybe we would have found a solution to your displeasure together and I could have a better understood where the real problem was. I wish you a nice autumnal time. Best regards from Berlin Andrea Grassow

During a quick visit at a good American friend visiting Berlin, the Garden Boutique Hôtel was reserved for me. I was not expecting much on this trip. It was a happy surprise to be staying in an old building, that is not as common in Berlin. There is also as bonus, a nicely planted and set up garden. The room was very comfortable and the wake up in a concert of singing birds, charmingly. There is nothing fancy there, except the friendliness of the Staff and a very good morning buffet breakfast. Price is reasonable to be at 2 tram stops from the heart of Berlin.

Stayed 3 nights. The accommodations were wonderful. Loved the old world charm of decor and the history. Staff was amazing! Breakfast was beyond great! Close to everything. Very helpful with transportation support. The garden was lovely place to relax after a long day of site seeing...felt like you were in the country and not in the city. Would stay again!

Spacious , clean , superb staff, location can not be faulted, easy access to underground , bus and trams and a very good underground ( secure) car park ...but our room was 86 stairs in the roof. This was not advertised and made things like popping down to the garden for a coffee or going to the cafe over the road too much of an effort. So my advice is book this hotel as soon as you can but either be very fit or make sure you have a first floor room

Garden Hotel is located on a busy street at the edges of the Mitte area of Berlin, the building is non descriptions from outside, but inside it is a different world of calm, lovely decor and the peaceful garden. Every part of the hotel is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Our room on the second floor was a bit of a climb as there was no lift but was lovely and quiet and came with a very comfortable bed. There did not appear to be air conditioning, but this was not an issue in March. The breakfast was very good except for the very average coffee and the dining room was very relaxing. The hotel is convenient for all modes of public transport, it's also possible to walk to the majour sites. A lovely hotel and recommended.
