Excellent and stylish hotel centrally placed , comfortable rooms and beds. The best breakfast buffet I have seen. First class. We stayed last weekend and ate twice in the hotel restaurant. The food was good but not excellent although the breakfast was superb. Our room was stylish and spotless, room 229, and the staff extremely polite and helpful.

This hotel lives up to its reputation for quality service without apparently trying too hard. Everything and everyone works as one would expect them to do without being flashy, pushy or intrusive. Hotel de Rome provides excellent facilities, accommodation and the quality of service is excellent. Nothing is to much trouble for the concierge with instant help provided for everything...

We had a lovely stay at Hotel de Rome. The hotel itself is very impressive. The public areas are very well designed, and our room was large with a nice balcony and epic view over Berlin. The staff were all very friendly. Kaja and the rest of the concierge team went out of their way to help us whenever we...

Situated just off Unter den Linden this hotel is extremely well located for a stay in central Berlin. All the hotel staff were extremely welcoming, helpful and efficient. Our bedroom, a junior suite, was spacious, comfortable and very well appointed. All areas of the hotel were maintained to a high standard. We used the dining room for breakfast only which...

We had a lovely corner suite with a terrace on the top floor. Would have been nicer in the summer, but can hardly blame them for that. The breakfast was excellent, again an outdoor terrace which it wasn't warm enough for us to use but would be great in the summer or earlier fall. The location of the hotel is...

The hotel itself was beautiful, with an excellent location for walking around central Berlin. The staff was friendly and helpful in regards to check in, dinner and other activity recommendations, and hotel usage. The bar and restaurant also offer fantastic drinks and food, making the stay here an easy choice.

Beautiful property in a nice quiet location. Outstanding staff interested and very willing to make your trip a memorable and unique one. Comfortable rooms. Only disappointment: the beautiful Indoor lap pool is only large enough for one and the gym has limited weight equipment.

The hotel and the spa was absolutely lovely with very friendly staff. On the negative side: Spa closed on Friday (closed party), same for restaurant at lunch and The Afternoon tea room on Saturday. As a hotel guest you do expect to be able to use the hotel and it amenities during your stay.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel de Rome is located on Bebelplatz, off Unter den Linden. It is a conversion of an existing building constructed in 1889 by architect Ludwig Heim (appointed master builder of the government), which housed the head office of Dresdner Bank until 1945. This is one of the few luxury hotels in Berlin located in an original building making use of its full architectural splendour and thereby offering guests an authentic Berlin experience. The ornate and classical design of the original building has been given a contemporary twist by designer Tommaso Ziffer, who also designed the Hotel de Russie in Rome. Tommaso Ziffer has been assisted by architects Aukett + Heese with Olga Polizzi and her design team at Rocco Forte Hotels. ... more   less
