This is a fabulous hotel - at a reasonable price. Yes, reasonable - you get a lot more than you pay for. Soaring 12 foot ceilings in your rooms - which are large and airy. Fabulous staff in all sections of the hotel. Special mention to Ben on reception who made us feel very welcome on check-in. Bar area is...

Location is fantastic, with great restaurants, good shopping and all major museums within a 5 minute walking radius. Room service is great, especially the option to have breakfast in the room. Concierge service is probably the best I have ever experienced, friendly and efficient. Rooms are very spacious and quiet. Was just at a very highly rated Four Seasons in...

Stayed with the family over a weekend in January. Great large rooms in a very historic old bank building. Very friendly staff - all young but very professional. Great breakfast buffet and nice Italian dinner restaurant . Lap pool is too small . Will come back.

Stayed with friends to visit the Christmas markets. Rooms were very good, location is the best, concierge is fantastic. The breakfast was extensive and very high quality, as was the serving staff. Fancy without being pretentious.

This hotel has a contemporary design aesthetic incorporated into a historically significant building (there are WW2 shrapnel marks all over the front, but even in some of the rooms !). We booked 2 rooms here and found the first floor to be in a totally different style to the top floor, and the room on the first floor had amazing...

Beautiful hotel complex in an old bank. Great roof top bar and roof terrace for guests use. Rooms are big, comfy bed. However, the coffee making utilities in the room are missing. Helpful staff, including concierge and front desk. Nice inside pool, spa and gym.

The second time we spent 3 days with our family at the Hotel de Rome for New Year and it was a wonderful experience. The hotel and location are perfect and the staff is very friendly, went out of their way with last minute arrangements such as restaurants, hair dresser appointments and organizing New Years eve. Thank you!

Spent New Year's Eve at this hotel and it was fantastic. The menu was a 5 course set menu with pairing wines. The food was incredible and the service matched. We could not fault how staff were able to get the food out and with amazing presentation at all different times of the night accommodating to your requirements not to...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel de Rome is located on Bebelplatz, off Unter den Linden. It is a conversion of an existing building constructed in 1889 by architect Ludwig Heim (appointed master builder of the government), which housed the head office of Dresdner Bank until 1945. This is one of the few luxury hotels in Berlin located in an original building making use of its full architectural splendour and thereby offering guests an authentic Berlin experience. The ornate and classical design of the original building has been given a contemporary twist by designer Tommaso Ziffer, who also designed the Hotel de Russie in Rome. Tommaso Ziffer has been assisted by architects Aukett + Heese with Olga Polizzi and her design team at Rocco Forte Hotels. ... more   less
