Spent New Year's Eve at this hotel and it was fantastic. The menu was a 5 course set menu with pairing wines. The food was incredible and the service matched. We could not fault how staff were able to get the food out and with amazing presentation at all different times of the night accommodating to your requirements not to...

From the beginning until the end, the service was warm and welcoming, and professional and efficient at the same time. The location is one of the best in Berlin. Our kids appreciated all the goodies they received (sweets, milk and cookies in the evening, umbrellas, special shampoo and soap) and also loved the pool.

This Place is highly recommendable. Unpretentious on one side but a pure customer driven Staff who makes you feel comfortable at all. The rooms are classic-timeless and you have everything you might ask for. Go.

Very positive experience with Hotel de Rome. Will definitely look into other locations where Rocco Forte has hotels to try if as good as in Berlin. Will also advice friends to use this nice hotel if they would visit Berlin

If you're looking for great accommodations, food and location is important this is your place. The suites are great, high ceilings, large and very clean. The location is great, in a historic area of town. Berlin is now one of my favorite cities in Europe!

I had high expectations and they were exceeded. The location is excellent, the building beautiful and the decor super cool. My room was huge and well appointed. The restaurant was great and the bar a mixture of elegant and hip. But what made a fabulous hotel really special were the staff. From waiter to housekeeper to doormen all were incredibly...

The service experience during my stay was very mixed - and that is, what distinguishes a good from a great hotel. The worst experience was the fact that I had stayed at the hotel more than 5 times - three times with my partner. One would assume that any Western European 5 star hotel would be experienced (and relaxed) in...

I decided to book a short break in Berlin and decided to book into the Hotel de Rome as I had stayed at a sister hotel earlier this year. The check in was seamless and we were escorted to our room by the receptionist who was extremely helpful and gave us some tips and ideas for the weekend. The room...

We go to Berlin on business quite a bit so have the chance to try a number of good hotels, in the hope of locking down the 'undisputed best in town', from our perspective anyway. Current top of the pile is Soho House Berlin, where the rooms are just sensational and the experience just a little more high voltage than...

When in Berlin I always try to stay at this hotel. From the outside an impressive old building, inside as impressive but with contemporary beautiful design. From the large and well equipped rooms spectecular views toward Bebelplatz with St. Hedwig church and Humboldt University. Well trained friendly staff. La Banca Restaurant is much better than usual Hotel Restaurants.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel de Rome is located on Bebelplatz, off Unter den Linden. It is a conversion of an existing building constructed in 1889 by architect Ludwig Heim (appointed master builder of the government), which housed the head office of Dresdner Bank until 1945. This is one of the few luxury hotels in Berlin located in an original building making use of its full architectural splendour and thereby offering guests an authentic Berlin experience. The ornate and classical design of the original building has been given a contemporary twist by designer Tommaso Ziffer, who also designed the Hotel de Russie in Rome. Tommaso Ziffer has been assisted by architects Aukett + Heese with Olga Polizzi and her design team at Rocco Forte Hotels. ... more   less
