Great hotel situated right in the center of the city! Spacious room with a very comfortable king size bed and a variety of pillows!!! The lighting also created a relaxing atmosphere. Beautiful bathroom too! The staff was very polite and helpful. We enjoyed our stay there so much!

Great location just a short walk from the train station Fredrikstrasa. We stayed in a quiet room away from the street. The room had ample storage and nice furnishings. The bathroom was perfect. We were most impressed with the champagne breakfast/brunch that was the best The price was comparable to a low Best Western in the US but food, service...

I would recommend hotel Melia, 1 minute from U an S Bahn stations, 10 min walk along the river to Museum Island. If you book a club level room you have access to the club level lounge on 7th floor, a comfortable lounge (with separate smoking area) where you can have hot or cold breakfast, afternoon tea and snacks and...

Standard Melià brand quality, which can be relied upon, with very nice Spanish tapas bar, with live music, good location, would use again. Would be a better experience with tea and coffee making facilitates included in the room. Also Wifi is good, but better if you could stay logged in, as repeating the sign in each time is a clumsy...

The location for tourist is ideal as the tram stop is outside, as is the access to the u bahd. It is also right on the river near lots of lovely restaurants, small drug stores and supermarkets. About €35 in a taxi from the airport. It is easy walking distance to Reichtag, Brandenburg gate, checkpoint Charlie and the holocaust memorial....

This hotel is very well located - within walking distance of many of the main attractions and with restaurants, shops and train station very close by. Hotel is very nice, rooms clean, modern and comfortable. We had breakfast once which was the typical buffet. Bar very nice with good service. Only negative was the poor wifi- really not ok in...

Stayed at Melia for our first trip to Berlin. Was easy to get to tourist areas and to Potsdam by walking or taking transportation. Parked car in garage and did not need again until we checked out after 3 days.

The location is close to everything. Museums' Island, Brandenburg Gate, Christmas Markets. A very nice hotel, warm design in the rooms, we have the basic type and it was very comfortable, the breakfast is very very good with a variety of local products and the city view is nice as well. The staff very helpful and kind, especially the concierge,...

I can't remember anywhere being as cold as Berlin was on my three-day visit. Admittedly it was the middle of winter. It was grey and overcast. Even at 11 in the morning, it was still minus 8 degrees! Bit different to Sydney summer! :) The sun shone for a few hours on one morning. The Melia hotel was a standard...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
