I was in Berlin on business, so stayed a night in the Lux 11 hotel. The hotel had been recommended to me by our German colleagues and from the website I was really looking forward to my stay. The location is excellent if you wish to explore everything that Berlin has to offer. However, I was here on business and...

We stayed in hotel LUX 11, Jan 9-11, 2007. We really liked. The location is magnificent for anyone wishing to see Berlin: for museum and cultural events as well as for shopping. It is a design hotel: we liked the furniture/decoration and the overall hotel ambience. We liked the whole residence thing: not having cleaning ladies bagging to your door...

Reasons why we will NEVER stayed at LuX 11, EVER AGAIN. Hotel staff is full of attitude. Concierge is not available 24 hours. The sink in the room is not practical at all. So is the shower. Water splashes everywhere whenever we take showers. No one is available to clean the daily garbage. No soundproof in the room. You can...

very unfriendly staff. Strange rules, you can obtain your reserved room before 4PM. Not very clean, generally, this hotel looks already tired. Small room, cold atmosphere and a pretentious design without means for that. I don't understand why such a place is recommended by some of the prestigious traveller magazines.

"very unpleasant place" This wicked critisism is not suitable, so we have to take a statement. Our house is very small, so some days we don't have the chance to change the rooms. Because our guests have the offer to stay in the rooms till noon at their check out date, and we also need time to clean the rooms...

Great for young couples how want privacy as their is little in the way of hotel ammenities. Suited us fine as I hate loads of fussing. Below our room was a very noisy restaurant, so we didnt sleep well. The staff wasnt too friendly and the management neither. The furniture is nice and i really like design hotels. But even it is only one year old the roomy look very used still. The prices are very high so I wouldnt recommend.

Had a fantastic 4-day stay at Lux 11. It's the absolute perfect location for anyone who wants to be in the center of Berlin's burgeoning creative scene. You'll be surrounded by high-style boutiques, hip restaurants, and cool nightclubs. Also near many U-Bahn and S-Bahn stops, so it's easy to get to all corners of the city. And the building is...

This is a very stylish hotel with a cool restaurant. Great location. I really enjoyed it, but would probably chose a different hotel for a short trip. The staff is young, German and hip. So don't expect stiff service. The room is stylish, some designs are useless though ( I nearly broke my arm every time I used the sink...

My husband and I stayed at the Lux 11 for five nights (13 Aug through 18 Aug) and thought it was a great little hotel. We booked a junior suite with a view of the TV tower and loved looking down on the city streets at night. The rooms are not like those of your typical hotel...there is a lot...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
