This is a very charming establishment close to Ku'dam. Once upon a time it was the home of the Danish expressive silent movie star Asta Nielsen (she left Germany in 1937). I'm sure she launched exiting parties in the former reception area with beautiful windows overlooking the peaceful Fasanenstraße. Now it is transformed to breakfast room and spacious guest rooms... What a find. Booked this because of attractive central location at Ku'dam (easy to reach by bus 109 or X9 from TXL). Turns out to be a time capsule that takes you straight to early 20th c Berlin. Good beds, high ceilings, amazing woodwork and wallpapers, actual art. If you can tolerate quirks like shared bathrooms (some rooms do have... More

I rented one of the cheapest rooms in the pension for one night before going on to Dresden. As such the room was very small, but the bed was comfortable and other rooms were much larger. I was impressed by the breakfast, which extended to smoked salmon. The wi-fi was reliable. The pension is right in the centre of the... More

A friend and I have recently stayed three nights there and I can't recommend it highly enough. It's such an interesting building, in a quiet, gentile area and the staff at the hotel are great. In fact we arrived really late at night 11pm and one of the staff, Michael had come back to the hotel after his shift to... More

Very elegant hotel - high ceilings, lovely beds, delicious breakfast - great coffee, smoked salmon/ meats/ cheeses; lovely bircher muesli and a selection of breads... a real find and a bargain. Lots of nice places to eat/ drink nearby too. Really glad we found it.Great location next to 3 tube stops. Lovely quiet road.

Great place to stay in Berlin if you enjoy something other than the sterile décor of most chains. We had a spacious room facing the courtyard. It was very quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was wonderful and had lots of variety, even for vegetarians. We wish we had booked earlier so we could have stayed longer.

Great place to stay in Berlin if you want to avoid the modern hotels and luxury chains. The flat is divided in 6-8 rooms decorated with furniture from the 20's.The staff is friendly and helpful but the needings are the basic from any other flat

This hotel-pension is ideally located to transportation, shops and restaurants. Despite its city-centre location, the street is quiet at night. The building is quite old and is a step back into the past with elegant if simply decorated rooms. The host is very knowledgeable and helpful and does his best to ensure you have a pleasant stay. The extensive choice... More

Perfect Spot in Berlin - close to the Zoo Station, just round the corner from one of the main shopping areas, including a bar/restaurant round the corner which seems to be open round the clock :) Spacious rooms with good wifi connection in common areas. We also opted for the optional bfast which included a good selection of food items.... More

We enjoyed our stay in Pension Funk which occupies the 3rd floor (as Americans call it) of an historic building. Our room was spacious with tall ceilings and a seating area besides large king size bed. The ensuite bathroom was small but functional; it seemed to have been added as a complete unit. There was a delicious buffet breakfast daily.... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
