Front office needs training. Urgently. When I arrive at the reception, I expect 3 things: 1) a smile, 2) "welcome", 3) explanation of all the hotel services. (I won't go so far as to push for a "Thank you for your loyalty".) None of this was provided. Check-in was rushed and chaotic. I didn't feel welcome at all. My status was also ignored and the welcome drink voucher wasn't prepared, I had to ask for it. In a 5-star hotel? Terrible first impression. Embassy room far too small for the price and with no functioning A/C. It was like a sauna! I don't care if it was unusually hot in Berlin, I expect a full functioning A/C in a luxury hotel. When I asked for the room to be cooled down, because I thought I was doing something wrong, I got a fan. A nice gesture, but a bad sign, indicating that the A/C isn't really working. In an extremely expensive 5-star hotel?! Bed too hard, I had to ask for a mattress topper. The receptionist didn't understand what I was talking about, so I left a note to the housekeeping team. When I asked her for the pillow menu, something I expect in a luxury hotel, the same receptionist asked me what kind of pillow I wanted. How can I say if I don't see the pillow menu?! I guess it doesn't exist? In the end I just asked for a feather pillow. Of course, I didn't get it. I guess they don't have feather pillows at this supposedly 5-star hotel. I could go on... Breakfast, again, not worthy of a 5-star hotel. The a la carte menu is so short that I couldn't believe my eyes! And why was there no buffet on Sunday? Buffet is supposedly served on weekends. Let me guess, a la carte breakfast costs the hotel less? The staff at breakfast were very nice though. They should switch places with the receptionists, to be honest. I was very unlucky in that I dealt with the same receptionist every time. An incredibly cold person who has no place working in the hospitality industry. She didn't even ask me whether everything was OK at check-out. That was probably smart as she would have got an earful. Good things about this hotel are the location next to Tiergarten and the welcome amenity was very nice. The building itself is beautiful but a grand exterior and a spiral staircase do not a 5 star hotel make. The service was so disappointing that I couldn't believe it. At 450 EUR a night, this is an incredible insult. I will never return. I am aware of the staff shortages and all the challenges the hotel industry is facing, but if you're going to charge so much money, I expect to get my money's worth. All in all, an incredible disappointment. In conclusion, the impression I got is that this hotel only cares about your money and not your satisfaction.…
Excellent hotel in a beautiful building and lovely location. our room had a wonderful view on Tiergarten which was peaceful. the service was excellent, everybody (front desk, concierge, waiters at breakfast, barmen) was extremely helpful and friendly. special thanks to the two very lovely young men at the bar. also, the breakfast menu is fantastic. every product was fresh, tasteful and high quality. the rooms, although a bit too small for this level of hotel, are beautiful and very well furnished and equipped. beautiful bathroom. I would strongly recommend this hotel and come back with pleasure.
A beautiful hotel set on the southern edge of the Tiergarten in a quiet neighbourhood backing onto Berlin zoo - consequently, quite a lot of walking involved to take in the city (we hired the hotel bikes on 2 days). Lovely ambience and smell! Very stylish decor and art work Our suite was excellent if a little warm Service was generally very friendly and helpful Great bar service and nice breakfast The hotels restaurant was pretty good but we had better meals during our stay Nice pool area Ok gym The only reason the hotel isn’t getting 5* is there was a problem with my bill that took a week after check out to resolve which was annoying at the time I would go back though for sure
It seemed fine at first when we got there, friendly service etc except no one helped with luggage from Taxi. When we went to bed we discovered that the pretty loud ambiant music from the entrance was discoverable from our room 118. The next day it was even louder and we complained and were told that the issue would be forwarded and nothing happened so we called again reception and were once again told that they would lower the volume… once again nothing happened. The noise (mainly the basses) kept us from sleeping. This is not what we expect from a luxury hotel.
Great Stay at So/ Berlin Das Stue. Room was awesome with views of the Berlin Zoom. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Gym was perfect and room was very comfortable. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Our Stay at the SO Berlin Das Stue was superb! The staff were so friendly and provided outstanding service. Breafast was delicious with such a variety of dishes to choose from. We booked the SO Suite and the room was lovely! We were only a short walk away from the centre of town/tourist destinations! I would highly recommend this hotel for a couples stay and I would definitely return!
All good - some room details not up to the 5 star level competition We witness elsewhere ( scratch in the sink) some furniture already quite worn off. Otherwise all fine. Perhaps around Christmas one could expect some more Christmas atmosphere/ misic, some Christmas cakes on the mornings, and so on. But all in all, a very good hotel for Berlin.
It was pleasure to stay in So Berlin. This time we decided to use our AllAccor upgrade to SO Suite which was really big and with all we need. After checking in we went to the room and found nice surprise - bottle of Bollinger Champagne and a note from hotel wishing nice stay. Due to location of hotel we decided to rent e-bikes and make a short trip thru parks of Berlin. Big thanks to al staff members for such a pleasant stay. See you soon.
Hotel met all our expectations and more! Weekend October stay in one of the suites (room 320) which was absolutely perfect: spacious, great design, cool, and highest quality. Could not have wished for more. Room service breakfast was perfect as well as bar nibbles and selection of excellent wines. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Berlin. Will definitely return on any subsequent trip. Perfection!! A special thank you to the lovely and welcoming staff!
Reviews about the hotel are spot on. The hotel and staff are utterly charming. We had a couple of night caps at the bar, and the drink recommendations were great in a very tasteful setting. Our room had a great view of the Przewalski horse ben and it was great to throw open the curtains in the morning and see them (see photo). We found the hotel very peaceful with ambient noise very low. The hotel is in a great position and allows you to quickly access the Tiergarten Park. Lots of bikes and escooters around to try out. Breakfast was great, however, we felt that service was slow (although very friendly) on the first day, and on the Saturday very slow. This could have been down to a wedding but something the hotel needs to look at from our view. Breakfast apart we very much enjoyed our stay and would love to return.…
