One of the worst stays I have had in decades. I should have realized that the rate I paid was 5 times the normal rate and should have assessed the stay against the normal rate rather than the inflated heavy demand rate. All carpets were stained and worn. There was vomit on the floor outside one of the rooms. Elevators were slow. Reception stay were unfriendly and perfunctory. I called the hotel before booking and was assured the rooms were airconditioned. Not true - unbearably hot. The breakfast was very poor - diluted juices, watery coffee and no cooked eggs. None of the staff greet you when you pass by - that is basic hospitality.
A modern hostel in a great location, no AC so consider that in hotter says otherwise, a great place to stay for a few nights and need a bed to sleep in. The level of service of the staff at Generator is acceptable.
Do not stay here if you expect a comfortable room temperature and it’s warm in Berlin. The main windows can’t be opened “for safety reasons” so it’s a disaster since there is no air conditioning. Plus our bathroom smelled a bit like sewage so it was a bad combination. The hotel’s location is great and the staff is nice, but it’s hard to make up for a poor room. This place is more of a hostel than a place for couples and I think the rooms cater to a younger demographic who perhaps cares less about the heat inconvenience.
Overall a good spot for a weekend trip. Unfortunately some small details like paying for towels (silly I know, but I stayed at another hostel in Berlin where this was provided and it made a difference) and having a really hot room made the stay less than ideal. That being said, it was perfect for my needs - good vibes, great and friendly staff, extremely great location.
Bedroom was so small that I could barely open my suitcase. The beds were extremely close together and the sheets I was given were stained. There was no fan and the windows barely opened so the room was extremely warm and it was located above the bar area so at night it was very loud.
Centrally located in Mitte, super close to public transit. Staff was friendly and checking in and out was a breeze. The place was super clean! Will definitely come back next time we are in town. Thank you!
We had our room changed from a Superior to Junior suite. However, the two bathrooms and multiple floors made it easier for our group of 5 to spread out some. There is nothing fancy about the room, but the location, staff and price (with breakfast) are all positive.
Well appointed, reasonable crowd. But beware, its possible you will be evicted for no specified reason, its possible you will be accused of abusing the guests, its possible the polzei will be called, its possible they will retain the monies you paid for breakfast. Its also possible your belongings will be retained. Gluckwunsch Generator... mit freund....
This is a really lovely hostel. The location was within walking distance of all the main sights. The hostel had a really good vibe. The bar was a great place to meet others staying at the hostel. We stayed in a private room and it was really nice. The breakfast was a cheap European continental breakfast which was good but we would have liked a wider selection. The laundry facilities unfortunately weren't working properly during our stay. However, we really enjoyed our stay at Generator and we would book with them again.
Stay was ok. Cleaners very loud laughing yelling when cleaning rooms at 10am. Lots of children. Very far from good nightlife. The hostel is fine but maybe for those age 18. Good access to trains and coffee.
