Not overly impressed with this place. There was a lot of groups so I found it quite difficult to meet any other solo travellers but reading the reviews previous it doesnt look like I was the only one! Huge Hostel so the staff was slighty inpersonal and not too friendly. The room was great though so was the location. Overall...

The Generator Hostel is excellent value for money. Most importantly our room was spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds and an en-suite bathroom (twin room). The staff down at Reception were extremely friendly and always happy to help with any queries we had. Sebastian even went the extra mile and printed off a list of the recently opened Christmas Markets...

Good value for money. Clean, comfortable rooms. Easy access to transport, which will connect you to anywhere in the city. The bar is reasonably priced and they locked away my laptop on the last day for security reasons, free of charge.

I spent one night in that hostel when was on my way to Schonefeld Airport. Decided to stay there because of a very good connection to the airport and city center. There is S-Bahn station next to the hostel and the journey to the airport takes around 25 minutes (direct train S9). Everything was fine, pretty big and clean room....

This hostel doesn't really fit the mold; it's decorated in a futuristic way obviously to the theme of a power station. I didn't mind it and it was always clean while I stayed there. I sprung for a private room knowing that I would want privacy after making it home from Berlin's amazing nightlife. The room actually had two beds...

I stayed here with three friends. We each got one free drink in the bar when we arrived. We had our own room. The room was clean but the bathroom was very small, especially the shower. There were two beds and bunk beds. One of the beds was broken. Staff seemed friendly enough. It was not far from the trams.

We checked into our tiny room with a sink and a tiny locker. There was no air conditioning, and being the top floor, it was hot. The bathrooms were like a school toilet block and the walls were paper thin. Not the best location, however was a good price. I will definately find somewhere closer next time.

Situated at the Landsberger Allee Generator Hostel is primarily a hostel for very young people. The rooms are spartan with inferior materials. The bunk beds in the dormitories are wobbly, the showers and toilets ok, but not outstanding. Unfortunately in the rooms there was only neon lights and no reading lamps, so that one is awakened at the different arrivals...

I think the staff thought they were doing me a favour by giving me an "upgrade" from and 8 bed to a 6 bed, that had no one else in it. but when your traveling by yourself, I'm more the happy to be in an 8 bed dorm with people in it, because it makes it a lot easier to...

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
