Neighbourhood
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.

The rooms are nice, the breakfast is excellent. There is no fitness room. Don't believe in the free WIFI. Almost all of the time there is no reception. Even if there is a connection in your room, it is so slow that it is practically useless. Sometimes WIFI works in the reception

I stayed for 4 nights at this hotel in February 2015. I found the accommodation to be of good standard. The room was clean, and the staff were very helpful. The breakfast is great value for money at 7.50 euros. The hotel is situated back from the main street so although its

I have been a good number of times at Greifswald hotel, first time was completly by hazard but I kind of fall in love with the place. Why, you may ask. Well first there is a feeling of coziness, to be at home, like a country house full of friends. There is nothing special in

We (2 over 60s from southern England) stayed in Room 51 at the Greifswald 4 nights early Novermber and it exactly met our needs. Quiet, friendly and very convenient for central Berlin (15 minute walk to Alexanderplatz or M4 tram right outside the entrance) or the trendy parts of

If you're use to staying in hostels, you'll love this hotel. If you're use to 3 star western hotels, don't bother with this one. It's close to transport and the hotel is set back from the busy road to give you a relatively peaceful night sleep. The Chinese restaurant next door

"The hotel has 5 floors and no lift. Request a room on one of the lower floors."
"Room 51 was on the 5th floor at the 'front' and very quiet. The 'front' actually looks out on another block of flats between the hotel and road. There seems to be a building site at the rear."
"Ask for a deluxe room that doesn't face the street."
"Ask for a room on the front for absolute quietness ( but really the rooms at the back aren't a problem unless you like to sleep all day and party all night). No lift so ask for lower floor if stairs are a problem."
"There are no lifts in this hotel and the building has about 5 floors. Request a room on a low floor unless you like walking up loads of flights of stairs. Our room was at the front of the hotel and was quiet. The last time I stayed my room was at the back and it overlooked a noisy factory. This may have changed though as my first stay was 8 years ago."
