Stayed at this hotel 5th - 9th May. Reception is clean and well presented. Bar area is nice but small. Only 1 person spoke decent enough English to get by. The others struggled and we had to use Goole translate. Not an issue but would be better for the hotel to have multi lingual staff. Hotel room was on the 5th floor with 2 accessible lifts. Stains were on the landing carpet, looks like someone had been sick and it not cleaned properly. Room was very basic. TV was something from the 90's with the big back but we didn't turn it on due to us not speaking the language. No kettle in the room but they have them at reception if you ask. Room was at the front of the hotel so was rather noisy due to having to have the windows open and no air con. Overall was a pleasant stay however, if we come back to Berlin would pay a little extra for a different hotel to have a nicer room. Hotel is located around a 5 min walk to the tram which takes you to Frankfurter Allee and onward to Alexanderplatz. If you do stay here, visit Alanya Bistro at least once. Kebap is fantastic!…
We stayed from 05/05/21-09/05/21 The room is a good size and the bathroom is also a good size. Very basic in the hotel room, no kettle or iron (this may just be a English thing to have in the hotel room). We had to ask for the iron but we were only allowed to use it that morning and we had to return it to reception, we weren’t able to keep it in the room. Plugs were oddly positioned and we only had 2 free plugs to use to charge phones/vapes etc so bring an extension cable with you so you have more plug sockets. Unfortunately, the rooms aren’t very sound proof and we were woken almost every night with people outside the room in the hallways and rooms above/below/next to us at all hours. We had a vending machine outside our room so we heard people constantly going back and forth to it at various hours of the night and we could hear people in the connecting rooms, even at normal talking volume. The double bed is 2 singles pushed together with 2 separate single duvets which was odd and they definitely need to invest in more/better pillows. We were given 1 pillow each that felt like they were as old as me with the stuffing being very sporadic inside the pillow case but that could just be personal preference. We did ask for extra pillows from reception but they were just the same. The TV was one of those old, large backed TVs, I was surprised it even worked anymore, although fortunately we never had to use it as was obviously German TV which we wouldn’t have understood anyway but they definitely need to invest in newer TVs. Staff were very friendly and helped where they could. We’d paid for breakfast to be included but I didn’t want to get up before 10am (it was a holiday after all) so we never had it while we were there so I’m unable to comment on that. It is a very well placed hotel, close to the local tram stop (about a 10 minute walk) which then connects to the U-bahn that you can jump on to get into the City within around 30 mins. There is an Aldi at the back of the hotel which is handy for snacks and drinks for the room because if you drink the bottle of water that’s left in your room, you’ve got to pay €2.50 for it, it’s not complimentary so just be aware of that but there are also vending machines placed around the hotel (like the one outside our room). My husband went to the bar on the first evening while I unpacked and he said there was a good variety of beer and it was well priced but you can also get a bottle of Berlinger Beer or Becks from the vending machine for €2.50 (cheaper than a can of red bull from the vending machine at €3). Overall it was a decent hotel to use just as a base. We were out most of the day and came back in the afternoon for an hour or two before we went back out until around 10-11pm. So for the price, it did the job. There’s just a few improvements that are needed to make it better. I can’t fault the staff, they were very friendly and always said hello and goodbye when we were going I’m and out. Also be aware that when you arrive, you have to pay City Tax, we paid just short of €9 so no big issue but it’s just good to be aware. I’d probably wouldn’t rush to use them again just for the noise that you can hear in the room from the hallway and the connecting rooms (even above/below us could be heard in our room) it was just a bit too much for me which is a shame because it was a decent hotel for the cost.…
As a group of 3 friends, we had a great experience in this hotel. The room was good, with all the necessary furniture, a hairdryer, but without a fridge and kettle(maybe it was in another more expensive room types). The breakfast was great. The hotel is located not in the city center, but there are bus, tram and metro stations nearby, so it is easy to get there by public transport.
Nice location, though a little bit far from Center, but it was not a problem. Neat clean room, there was everything that is needed for travelers. Pleasant great stuff. Everything was as I expected. I will recommend to everobody
Recomend this hotel, good location, great breakfast. Personal not very friendly. Everything was very cleaned. Great bedroom. The bus 240 was near the hotel, it isn’t very far away from the center. I want to go back!
I was a walk-in guest and the staff was extremely polite and helpful, the room was clean and spacious, bed was comfy. Also, check-out was not the usual 10 am but later so that is a pro. Location is pretty nice too, busy public transport lines (like Tram M8 or Bus 200) are in walking distance (few min).
The wifi in the rooms is just about enough to access your emails. I work while I travel, so I need faster internet speed. Even the meeting wifi didn't have enough speed to run my Zoom calls. I had to use my data. If we'd known the internet was so bad, we wouldn't have booked this hotel. The hotel is on a very loud street. We had to 'sleep' with the windows open because there was no air-conditioning. Sleeping was difficult. The breakfast was pretty good actually.
The "Good Morning Hotel - Berlin City East" previously had been operated under the Tryp by Wyndham brand. First of all - if you expect luxury, this is probably not the right place. The rooms are rather plain and functional, clean and with enough space. Actually suitable - after all this is East Berlin, a little bit of GDR flair is allowed. All around there are various shopping facilities, ALDI, LIDL etc. Not far away is also the Dong Xuan Center. Here Vietnam is highly concentrated. Eating and shopping almost like in the markets of Saigon - but in market halls. Subways and suburban trains are about 10 minutes away on foot, the tram not even five. Also within walking distance, the STASI Museum. Amenities and facilities: The hotel has two restaurants and a sauna. Since 1.1.2020 two euros are charged for the use of the sauna. The rooms have a flat screen TV, which could be a bit larger. Bath/shower are equipped with automatic light. Clean but somewhat worn. Remarkable is that here really permanently hot water is available in sufficient quantity. Room and hotel have free WLAN. Breakfast: There is not really anything to criticize here. Cold cuts/ cheese/fish, cereals and dairy products, coffee and tea as well as meatballs, sausages and scrambled eggs, oatmeal and potato pancakes, just to name a few. Personal: Nice and friendly helpful. In the end a hotel that does justice to its reasonable price and is ideal for all those who spend most of their time anyway visiting Berlin.…
My wife and I recently stayed in this hotel during a five day stay in Berlin. Having stayed in Motel L in Stockholm and because this is part of the same chain of hotels, we thought we would be in safe hands and we were right. The hotel, although not much to look at on the outside, is clean, spacious and modern inside. The rooms are a little basic but they're a decent size with comfy beds, new double glazing, clean curtains and furnishings and a good bathroom with a powerful shower and no shortage of hot water. It was also very quiet with little outside noise heard. My one criticism of the room is the stupid PIR activated light in the bathroom meaning you are frequently plunged into darkness whilst having a shower resulting in frantic waving outside the curtain (often to no avail) or having to shout on each other to come in and activate the light again. What's wrong with a light switch? Breakfast was plentiful and varied in a large restaurant area and we were never disappointed with anything we ate. Even towards the end of serving time stocks were kept high. The staff are really nice and friendly and patient with me as I tried out my ropey German. Location wise, there's a supermarket literally over the road which is open till 10pm, a bus stop just round the corner and trams are a bit further on. A bit too far when it's pouring of rain, and be advised that it takes absolutely ages to get anywhere on public transport as you end up having to change several times in some cases. The Stasi museum is just down the road (and well worth a visit, incidentally) but everything else is pretty much miles away but this hotel was much cheaper than equivalent hotels in West Berlin so you can't have it both ways. Would I come back? Nothing wrong with the hotel, but on balance I think I'd try its West Berlin counterpart next time round. But if you need to be in East Berlin for whatever reason, be it cost or it simply suits you better, then you won't go far wrong here.…
