The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given
way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.

It's surprisingly very easy. There are plenty of signs telling you which platform to go to. They depart from the same platform every time. Just follow the walkway from the door to the station. You buy your ticket at the machines and must validate it before travel. I was travelling alone and was quite nervous about it but found it a very easy process.

I would recommend going up the to the tv tower for amazing views - this will be a five minute walk from the hotel. Visit the reichstag done (make sure you book in advance as you need to show ID due to it being a secure government building - perhaps go there your first day and register for the next day. There is an office right next to the site who will help you), the cathedrals, east side gallery, topography of terror, Jewish memorial ground & checkpoint Charlie. And the Brandenburg gate obviously! Most of these attractions you can see within a short space of time. I went for four days and we managed to do all of that as it's all within walking distance. Food wise there are plenty of restaurants in Alexanderplatz at reasonable prices - 15 euros for drink and main etc. Great bakeries if you fancy night treats for breakfast which I definitely recommend! I think if you take 200 - 300 euros you will definitely have enough. I doubt you will end up spend 100 euros a day for your three day trip. Final tip, if you can make sure you do a boat ride down the river, costs about 10 euros, lasts one hour and Ives you great views of the city! Enjoy Berlin!
