Clean room with wooden floor (but very small). Great location with lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Comfortable pillows. Hotel had a luggage room, so you did not need to drag your case around with you on the last day. The rooms on the first floor close to the breakfast room were very noisy, so try to get a room...

This was my family's first trip to Berlin and we wanted a basic hotel in a good location, close to sightseeing and the Xmas markets. We were very happy with our decision. Staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast was standard European fare, and free wi-fi is available. Bathroom was a nice size and modern. Hotel easy to find and close...

Very basic hotel, good location, breakfast ok, 24h reception was good, nice staff, lots of bars/restaurants close by, people offering drugs by the entrance of the hotel at night, a good hotel for young party people, I didn't feel unsafe though, rooms small, good shower.

Good location, good service, nice rooms. There are some prostitutes in the street in the evening but it's not a bad neighbourhood. There is no extra charge for the WI-FI and it's easy to connect. The breakfast is OK. I wouldn't mind some eggs and maybe bacon, but for 7 euros (or was it 6,5?) it was fine.

The hotel is in a great location, Staff very friendly and helpful. Trams, underground and buses all stop at the door. So getting around was very easy. There wasn't a down side which makes for a very pleasant change. I would stay there again.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The MEININGER Hotel Berlin Mitte Humboldthaus is located exactly where others flock to: in the bubbly Berlin Mitte district on Oranienburger Strasse. Alexander von Humboldt lived here once, and this modern and low-cost hotel has retained the spirit of this polymath. DaWanda designers helped design each hotel room individually. People from all over the world meet in the hotel bar, lounge, guest kitchen and inner courtyard. ... more   less
