The Michelberger is a continually evolving modern family business serving and hosting people. A collective experiment. A place from where things can happen. We treasure what everyone is adding to our place, together bringing this urban sanctuary to life. We dream of a world of opportunity and benefit for the many over the few. A place where we meet each other with kindness, respect, patience, and understanding. We are here to shape the environment that we desire to live in. Above all, we are a human open social space. Where guests and hosts meet on an eye-to-eye level, where the appreciation for the craft of service, the quality of products, and the process behind is treasured golden. We run an organic, produce-driven restaurant that operates its own regenerative food forest outside of Berlin. In close cooperation with outstanding local producers, we serve what nature and season have to offer. The restaurant is open for brunch seven days a week and for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday. Sometimes all it takes is time and space.

Visited Berlin with our daughter and son-in-law; this was a birthday gift to my husband. What a wonderful and interesting City, full of history. We had no idea where we were staying or what to expect. What a treat the Michelbeger Hotel was! Very laid back and different hotel, with wonderful friendly staff and so much to take in from the furniture to the lighting, fittings and the outside space which was decorated with fairy lights and also had a roaring fire pit during the evening. Perfect to sit and have a glass of lovely German wine during the evening. Our bedroom was perfect; very comfy bed, pillows, duvets and a great shower-we loved it! The only “minus” point was that the side that our room was on backed onto a recycling site -no nasty smells but they start work very early and the clanging of bottles woke us up a few times but apart from that we have no complaints at all. It didn’t bother us that much at all as we were up and about anyway, but might not suit everyone wanting a lie-in!! We didn’t eat at the hotel other than a light breakfast (coffee and croissant) from the bar which was just right, and there are lots of coffee/pastry/snack places close by so you certainly won’t go hungry! Would certainly recommend.

10 years ago I stayed at Michelberger Hotel in a cosy room (type) and enjoyed every second. This time we stayed in an upgraded room and I was not impressed. Michelberger Hotel is absolutely a great hotel with focus on service and hospitality and I will for sure choose it next time. The breakfast served is absolutely just great. Unfortunately, we could not manage to try the restaurant for dinner. Next time. This said I need to point out what I did not like. - In the room there was only the bed to sit in (one chair to two people). No cupboard or shelves for our cloth and no real space for our luggage. - In the bathroom there was 1 hook for our 4 towels. Even we hung our towels so they could dry the room keeping changed our towels every day. - Michelberger hotel has a great and cosy lobby. However, in the evening the music is so loud that we did not like to sit there making the lobby unfriendly. - Worst of all. The coffee served at breakfast was warm - not hot. I complained every morning and every morning the staff heated my coffee using the espresso machine. The last morning my cup was full of coffee skin from poorly cleaned thermos.

The hotel is super stylish but with a laid back vibe. Extremely clean, beautiful aromas, mood lighting, excellent staff. 2mins walk from S Bahn. Restaurant is so lovely as is the bar, lounge area. My one gripe would be the glass walled bathroom in the hotel rooms. Possibly a British thing but we aren’t big on crapping in front of folk! So a curtain or something would be great. Particularly as the nearest toilet is several floors down. That aside, we loved our stay very much. Thanks again.

We visited (2 couples) in March 2022 for a big birthday and had chosen the hotel as my husbands favourite band had done a gig here once. It is very trendy and a cool crowd hangs out there - everyone was incredibly and friendly. I have read in previous reviews about parties and noise but we didn't have that problem as we went midweek. Our room looked out to the front of the very busy main street though and I wasn't bothered by street noise at all. I didn't catch her name but the lady at reception who checked us in was lovely and she gave us lots of maps and recommendations for places to eat. The hotel itself is quite far from the city centre but the Warschauer Strasse with U bahn and S bahn is literally straight across the road and you can get everywhere. Lots of ticket machines also. From the airport we took the S9 straight there and it took 35 minutes so very easy to get to/from the hotel and airport. We chose a loft room which was very cool - lots of room with a huge seat and desk area then your bed is up a wooden ladder and is above the room. Loved it. There is a hairdryer in the room and shower gel/shampoo in the shower. We didn't have breakfast booked but did eat in the restaurant one evening - its mainly vegeterian/vegan and we didn't realise that you couldn't just choose from a menu as it changes every day depending on what vegetables they have gotten from their farm - the dinner is 3 courses with 2-3 plates for the first 2 courses then your final course you could choose between vegan or meat. I chose meat and our friends had vegan which was just a bowl of roasted cauliflower so they weren't very impressed. It was very expensive for what it was - 44 euros each. There was a beautiful indo chinese restaurant across the bridge called Maison Umami which I'd highly recommend. There is a very big outside courtyard but because we were there in March it was a bit too cold but we did sit in the bar/lounge area which had lovely comfy seats. Overall 8 out of 10 as our restaurant experience but would definitely stay again.

… except being close to Berghain. Well connected via public transport. Parking is a hazzle. Food quality OK. Service friendly. Breakfast pretty thin. Rooms very nice and well cleaned. Not a family destination. Single travellers or groups of adults are better suited.

Very Good location. Very Nice design. Relaxed atmosphere. Very good for partying. less good for everything else. The bar/courtyard is very loud in the rooms. Hard to sleep before 02.00 its a shame because the rest of the hotel is quite good.

I visited Berlin for the first time in August 2021; I was supposed to visit in May 2020, but wasn't able to, for the obvious reason, and the hotel was very gracious in allowing me to change the date of my reservation even though I had bought the nonrefundable rate. I am so glad I stayed here. First of all, the staff is very helpful and friendly, especially the young woman who was at the front desk in the evening (I'm sorry, I never did get her name). The room I stayed in, which was a Loft room, was welcoming and spacious, and I loved touches like the wooden pendant lamps and the large windows. I also loved the loft bed, which was incredibly comfortable. (Just a caveat: if you have mobility issues, you may want a different class of room, as this one requires the ability to climb up and down a fairly narrow ladder to get to and from the bed.) Everything was spotless. Like in many European hotels, the room has no air conditioning, but the hotel does provide fans -- one in the lower level and one in the loft area -- and they kept me nice and cool in August. The hotel also has a very cute and comfortable lounge area in front where you can hang out for a little while to plan your day. Make sure that you have dinner at the hotel restaurant at least once while you're here. I had a dinner there that was off the charts, and I'm from NYC, so my standards are fairly high. The hotel is also directly across the street from public transport, so it's a snap to get anywhere in the city you need to go. I'm very much looking forward to staying here again!

Majority of the time when I’m in Berlin, this is where I have stayed. I was last there in August on a business trip. It’s begun to feel like my home in Berlin now. It’s a really cool & bohemian themed hotel. I love my fountain of youth coconut water from the bar and the Dr Bonners 18 in 1 soap that comes in the rooms. The tall window and the bunk style bed is extremely cool. You can never go wrong staying here. There’s a train station literally opposite, the Berlin wall is walking distance as is the Mercedes Benz Arena. Ample shops & restaurants in the same block & plenty of scooters to hire

We visited Berlin in early April, 2021 to see our newborn grandson. My wife and I had both been vaccinated in the US. Upon arrival in Germany, we went directly to the Michelberger Hotel to begin our five days of quarantine. The food at the hotel was the first of many pleasant surprises. Each night for dinner there was both a vegan and “Omni” selection. The majority of the ingredients are sourced from local farms and are exceptional in terms of freshness and flavor. Our room (Hideout) was immaculately clean and very comfortable (it had its own sauna!). On our fifth day, Sabine helped me find a place to take a Covid test to end our quarantine. She was kind enough to fill out all the forms and located a clinic walking distance from the hotel. This was an act of kindness that we deeply appreciated. Also, Jennifer was extremely helpful in guiding me to local services, such as the nearest ATM. The high point of our visit was having Easter brunch in our room together with our daughter, son-in-law and new grandson. The food was amazing and Alexandra was extremely helpful in coordinating the logistics. It was a day that we will never forget. Due to Covid restrictions in Germany, only guests of the hotel could use the bar and restaurant. We really enjoyed going to the restaurant in the morning for breakfast. It was our first sit-down restaurant experience in a year! In summary, our stay at the Michelberger Hotel was excellent. The staff was highly welcoming and competent and the food was top notch. We will certainly return to the Michelberger the next time we visit Berlin and I unconditionally recommend it to my fellow travelers.

We stayed for one night last month, although we were supposed to stay back in April before lady Rona ruined our plans. Thankfully the lovely staff here were so accommodating to us having to cancel and wanting to rebook for later in the year. When we arrived we were overwhelmed by how perfect everything was. The room itself was light and airy in the day, and cosy in the evening. Everything from the packaging, to the toiletries, to the loo roll was completely sustainable. In the evening we had quite a few drinks in the courtyard, and here Josie, a staff member from Ireland really made us feel welcome. She made sure our glasses were never empty and was eager to chat to us about everything she loves about Berlin. Definitely deserves a promotion for going above and beyond! Later we ate in the restaurant which was worth every expense, and again was entirely sustainable and self-sourced. We were shown a large crate of vegetables picked from their own farm that morning, which then arrived at our table in inventive and delicious forms. The local wine was also wonderful, and our wonderful waiter Josh from America ensured I ordered a cocktail which was perfectly suited to my taste after I was a little bit picky! Again, Josh is a wonderful member of staff who was so pleasant to chat with and was so knowledgeable about everything that arrived at our table. We finished the evening more than merry with full bellies and we couldn't have asked for more. We hope to stay with you again as soon as we can, it really was one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. Love Jack and Hannah x
