I stayed in a couple of hotels during my German visit & this was the first one. Reception staff were friendly & helpful & the decor is cool. Our twin room was simple but more than adequate for our needs. We had a lounge area, which had a sofa bed & a fully equipped kitchenette. The bar is dark &...

I can really recommend this hotel as an ideal place to stay in Berlin. It's easy to find, close to several good places to eat and drink, spotlessly clean and the staff are both friendly and helpful. Breakfast is also good. Perhaps the bar area is a bit dark and lacks atmosphere, but some may like it that way. All...

The hotel impressed us right from the start, it looked welcoming, it was trendy, the staff were ultra helpful at check in. Once in the room we were really happy with the space for 3 of us, the cleanliness of the room, and the contemporary feel as well as the free use of a safe and fridge. The breakfast was...

This is our second visit to this hotel in Berlin. It is just as good as last year. Location is excellent, Tram 8, 12, 1 and the UBahn 8 all pass by Rosenthaler Platz which is a couple of min walk from Amano. There are many reasonably priced Asian eateries around the corner. The Hotel is very clean, has a...

We stayed here late November. We found the hotel to be welcoming, warm and comfortable. The decor is modern and tasteful. The beds and bedding exceptionally clean and comfortable. I am very, very fussy about my bed and bedding but no worries here...spotless. We stayed in an apartment with a walk in shower. The shower was fabulous. One very small...

The Amano had been recommended by a collegue. Nice contemporary and clean rooms. Good deal for very reasonable price. Great breakfast. The view on the backside of the hotel was a bit boring. Next time I would choose a room on the streetside.

First time to Berlin and the Amano had been recommended by a friend. It lies in the Mitte district which is a great part of town. The rooms were really good. We had booked a large apartment, however had to spend the first night in a medium apartment (which actually felt more spacious that the large as it was one...

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights in November 2013. We chose this hotel because of its location, price and previous reviews. The hotel emailed beforehand to enquire about any special requests we might have and very happy to upgrade us to an apartment. We also hot a quiet room as requested overlooking a quiet street at the back....

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
