This is a no-frlll, basic but generally clean place to stay if you are in Berlin for 1 day or 2. When we opened the door to our room, it was uncleaned, beds not made from earlier guests that have checked out. The lady at the counter seemed shocked when we informed her, she was quick to apologise and offered...

I would characterize this more as a motel. The entrance is not characteristic of what I have seen in Germany, as I simply do not expect anything old and dirty in German accommodations! Unlike the entrance hallway, the room, bed and bathroom were perfectly clean though. The rooms have no telephone, and very little information is available.

The hotel was close to the metro station and can walk to Fredrichstase station, we actually walked most places. Clean large rooms, fairly basic facilities, there is no fridge or tea/coffe but is good for the price! much better than staying in a hostel. This hotel is part of an appartment building (it is not just a hotel building) Staff...

Convenient for Main Station and U/S-bahn. Breakfast good value (5euros), comfort room large and adequate but lights dim. Additional services such as availability of drinks and snacks or comlementary tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms would have been appreciated. The shared entrance and hallway were not clean and created a poor first impression of the Hotel.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
