The restaurant is definitely a go past experience. Don’t bother stopping by. Old oil smell, dismal service and just not pleasant. It is unfortunate since it has a prime location and could be so much more. The tables are also not disinfected between patrons and the menus are disgusting.

This is a really neat place to spend a night. I recommend arriving early and taking a tour. The hotel and restaurant are in only one part of the Castle. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and since we were the only people on our tour we were able to get a personal experience. They will do the tour in the language (German or English) of the majority. We ate dinner at the Castle and we were very happy with our meals. There is an option to go into town for dinner if you prefer. At night it's very quiet. The Castle sits above the town, next to a sheep farm. The farm is close enough to be picturesque, but far enough that you do not smell it. We had to leave before breakfast to keep an appointment. The staff was very accommodating to our early departure.

We arrived for a night here. We were met by a rather curt man, welcome was cool. We were shown to our room which was a family room which held 6 people!! I had inadvertently reserved this room, the room was incredibly dark, not a glimpse of sunshine getting in. It was very cold. We had to ask for heaters in the room, which were given but we were asked to unplug later. There was no complimentary water not even one bottle. There was a lovely sun-filled room at top of stairs which I feel should have been offered to us, as we were only two, it wouldn’t have needed heaters and it was unoccupied! Such was the manner of the manager/ proprietor. We had a reasonably nice meal in the lovely dining area. However we asked for a jug of tap water to bring to room & the Frau of the house she only had bottles water ata charge of course. It is actually a right for every guest to. E given water, at least one bottle. WiFi drop out all the time. I would not return here. The tour of the castle itself is well worth’s doing and very interesting.

We loved our stay in the hotel! The night we checked in, we discovered we were the only English-speaking family out of the small handful there, but with Google translate on our restaurant menus, it was all great. We had the Executive Suite for our family of 4. It was so fun to wake up and know we were in a castle!

Yes, it's fun to drive through the portcullis gates into the courtyard and the castle itself is beautiful but the hotel is basic. We were unfortunate that the temperature was 38c and we were given a room on the second floor (6) with no fan or air conditioning so sleep was impossible. The restaurant was also pretty basic but breakfast was good and the staff were obliging.
