Spent a few days at the Blauer Bock during Wirtshauswiesn. This is my second visit to the hotel, as it is one of my favourites places to stay in Munich. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, and the breakfast buffet is excellent. I'm looking forward to my next visit.
If you're looking for a historic, centrally located boutique hotel -- this is for you! Hotel staff was very friendly and could not beat the location. Only a few minutes walk from Marienplatz station and some great restaurants/beer halls in the area. One note, there is some street noise until about 11 pm/ midnight on weekends due to the restaurant scene, but otherwise a great stay!
The location of this hotel in Munich is fantastic. We checked in, and immediately went to dinner at the Viktualmarkt, only a block away, then strolled through Marienplatz in the evening. The downside of this central location is that it is a bit noisy. We were there in July (second downside: no A/C) and had to open windows as it was quite warm. We started out with a street-facing room and after listening to the guys drinking beer and chattering right below our window, and re-reading TA reviews, we asked to switch to a courtyard-facing room. The clerk (Anto) could not have been nicer and more accommodating, and he did move us to an inside room (1st floor) facing the courtyard. However, there were also people talking in the courtyard until well past 10:30pm (this was on Saturday night). Also, you are facing other apartments pretty close across the courtyard, so slightly less privacy. Having said all of that, we lucked out. It wasn’t too warm, and it rained a fair amount in the evening. We kept the windows wide open (I did get up to close them during one particularly hard rain), and it was comfortable. We were in a junior suite, which was a “double” room with a sitting area. Our second room had a combo bath/shower, which was perfectly fine. Others have commented about keeping water from going on the floor. I think this is because instead of a curtain or a door, this combo (like several others we’ve seen in Europe) was a 1/3-1/2 wall and open the rest of the way. I agree, it is very hard to keep water from going out of the shower. I assume hotels here have gone to this arrangement to reduce mildew issues (and it seems to be effective for that), but you really have to pay attention when you are in the shower, and in my experience it still is not always possible to avoid getting water on the floor. On the other hand, our first room had just the shower, no bathtub; it was completely enclosed, but small. I’m happier with what we got. The breakfast was fine. The attendant on the first day was very nice, although between her minimal English and our minimal German, it was a little interesting! They have very strict COVID protocols in place here: Plexiglass partitions between tables, no more than 2 at the buffet at a time, and they shine UV light on your hands each time you approach the buffet. This is our 6th hotel in two weeks, and the first time I’ve seen this. Our junior suite was a comfortable size. Others have talked about the tiny rooms, but that wasn’t our experience. King-sized bed, sofa, two tables, desk, TV, coffee maker, one bench for bag, and a decent-sized close with safe. No phone, but as the hotel pointed out in a response to someone else, we don’t really need one. Overall, we were happy with our experience.…
We spent a couple of nights in Munich during Christmas Markets in December 2019, and wanted to be within walking distance of Marienplatz. Hotel Blauer Bock was a perfect choice! The location could not have been better - we were close to everything we wanted to see/visit. Very friendly and helpful staff at this quaint hotel. Small and efficient room was very comfortable. IF YOU HAVE A CAR --- be sure to speak directly with the staff to get instructions/directions for parking ... you need to get a key at the Front Desk, then drive around the corner to the underground private garage and then return the key once you have parked. Once we parked, we left it there ... it would have been a bit of a hassle having to get the key every time we wanted to bring the car back from an adventure. …
We spent twice a night at this hotel when stopping overnight in Munich. The rooms and all the facilities are just perfect and the service is outstanding! A place to recommend to anyone who wants to visit the town and just be a few minutes from the main places in the old town.
This is a fantastic location for a visit to the Christmas markets. The hotel was imaculate with a good very clean rooms and a hearty breakfast with safe parking in the basement I highly recommend for a stay in the city centre.
Stayed in the hotel 3 nights. 99% of the front staff were great. However I believe the newest staff member. Female, older short hair apparently did not like her job. She was the evening front desk employee. The hotel has no ice on the floors. 1st night went to the front desk and the staff went to the adjoining restaurant and got me a glass. The next evening I brought the glass back and asked for ice. The lady looked at me like I was crazy!! I quickly explained the staff prior and gone to the restaurant and brought back a glass. She told me to do it myself. Next day the staff member went and retrieved. The last night the cranky lady was working. I waited while she checked in the guest in front of me. A group of people walked in to be checked in and she made me wait until she was done. I informed her I was here first. She shook her finger at me and told me to wait. One bad employee will not be back. Also asked to speak to manager privately as I didn’t want to register this complaint online. Was told send email and the front desk will give to him. …
This hotel was perfect for me, an older woman traveling alone. Yes, the single room was small but the bed was comfortable, there was a lovely down comforter, and the window opened (not standard in American hotels these days). The hotel was less than 10 minutes walk from Marienplatz, where you can connect to the S-bahn and U-bahn. You can get to the hotel with no changes from the airport on the S-8. It took about 40 minutes ride plus 10 minutes walk. I came for sightseeing and the Christmas markets and couldn't have been more pleased with my choice. The Marienplatz markets were steps away and the U-bahn took me to the others. The hotel is next to the Victualienmarkt (and across from Eataly) where you can get reasonable priced meals and food for picnics, or just walk around and enjoy the ambiance (particularly nice at Christmas). The staff at the desk speak English and helped me with maps and other information. Leaving the key at the desk was not a problem for me. My only small issue was that the shower was VERY small. I had to press up against the back of the shower to be able to close the door. However, I didn't have a problem with water on the floor as others have reported. The room was spotlessly clean. I will definitely stay again when I return to Munich.…
The hotel is well located near the centre. The room was clean and bed comfortable. Could do with tea and coffee in rooms but that didn’t detract fro stay. Will use again when in Munich. The lady on reception was very helpful and spoke good English.
The hotel was centrally located. Close to Marienpltatz, bars, restaurants, and public transportation. If staying for Oktoberfest - it is about a 10-15 walk or 2 stops by public transport. The hotel is very nice, clean, and the room is large for a solo traveler. It also offers a wonderful breakfast. The customer service is outstanding as well. This is the second time I've stayed here and I will stay again when I return.
