good service , breakfast wonderful and they have big variety of foods , employees in restaurant are very helpful, location is very good to shopping but prices is high compared to similar hotels same level,
Stayed for 2 nights in June 2022 in a standard/classic room. The size of the room was large for standard level as was the bathroom. The beds are very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was amazing - the buffet staff ensure hot coffee is always available and if you have a special request they try to accommodate. The buffet included 2 types of hot eggs, usual European breakfast options plus lovely pastries, fresh squeezed orange juice, and bacon for the meat eater. The location of the hotel is perfect - less than 2 blocks to the glockenspeil and marienplatz. The front desk was able to recommend perfect restaurants being one authentic German and the 2nd night an Argentina steak house. We took a taxi/van from the airport to the hotel and the hotel arranged a van to take us back to the airport for the same fee so no additional "middle man" charges. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone in Munich. The hotel is rated 3.5 star but it is definitely a 4 star - the only reason no 4 star because no on-site restaurant.…
Well-located, clean, and well-run hotel near public transit and within walking distance of a number of key sites. The breakfast has a lot of items to choose from and the breakfast room is pleasant. Very professional staff. The rooms are small and simple, and the overall vibe is traditional. There is no bar, and the small lobby consists of a few benches and a vending machine. There is a small refrigerator in the room stocked with free beer, soda, and water. Not much street noise, but housekeeping does some very assertive hallway vacuuming starting right at 8am. A very solid, if slightly unsexy choice.
Had two reservations - one for our first week in Munich and the other for our one night return from Oberammergau before flying home. Our full week stay was a lovely double room with large tv and complimentary refrigerated beverages. Rooms were quickly made up each day and the staff was delightfully friendly and helpful. Rooms have small personal safes, refrigerators, room darkening curtains and mechanical shades. Loved the hardwood-style floors (no carpet!) for added cleanliness. The location is less than a block from the pedestrian plaza leading to either Marienplatz or Karlplatz with easy access to buses, subway and trams. (Coming from the plaza, just turn down the short street by Five Guys Burgers and you will see the hotel). It is on the corner of 2 intersecting one-way streets so traffic going past the hotel can sometimes be loud or annoying in the middle of the night. Our return stay for one night found us in a somewhat smaller room with smaller tv but the same level of cleanliness and comfort. An added bonus is the lovely buffet breakfast with a wide assortment of fresh fruit, cereals, breads, croissants, rolls, pastries, eggs, meats and cheeses. Beverages included fresh juices, coffee and tea and we were invited to visit the dining room later in the afternoon if we wanted an extra cup. It was always a pleasure to see our breakfast hostess each morning who always had a smile (despite her mask) and a nice word to send us on our way. All in all, a very good experience.…
I am a travel agent and had a group of 11 rooms (including myself) and we were blown away at the A+ location right outside the front door. The staff was very friendly, and the best complimentary breakfast at any hotel ever in our travels throughout the World - this was the consensus of my group as well. This is the go to hotel for Munich, so do not waste your time comparing other options - you will not be disappointed!
We had booked this hotel for 3 days in late March. It was great - good location, friendly staff, room clean and comfortable, breakfast acceptable, good mini-bar - everything we needed. In fact I liked it so much that I decided to book another 3 days for a return trip in late April. Arrive to check in for the April stay and am informed that I have booked 2 rooms. Same names, same number of people (2), same price, same dates everything the same. I explain that they must have made a mistake - that we only have 1 room. Nope, must be MY mistake and I'll have to pay for both of them (too late to cancel the reservation). No manager on duty, they said they would talk to the manager and get back to me. Next day I questioned the clerk to see if it had been settled. Nope, it had to be MY mistake and I'll have to pay for the two rooms for 3 days, making my stay twice as expensive. So I wasn't a happy camper and won't be returning to this hotel when traveling to Munich again - or recommending it to others.…
Finally got to stay 4 days in Munich after 2 covid cancellations. The Mercure Alstadt was very good in extending the validty dates for the original voucher cancellations and very thankful for that. The hotel is very clean and having a comfort room with seating area and a free mini bar was very nice. We were on the 5th floor which is very quiet. Plenty of choice for breakfast which is buffet style. Coffee, chocolate and tea is available during the day & evening free of cost from the coffee machine located in the breakfast room. The position of the hotel is perfect for the old town and close to Marianplatz. Less than 10 minutes walk from the S bahn and U bahn stations in Marianplatz and similar walk to Karlsplatz where there are good connections for the trams to venture further afield in Munich. Don’t expect the Mercure to be 5 star but is perfect for seeing the sites in Munich and fully recommended.…
We now this hotel from Hamburg in a job travel. Because we like very much to spend our holidays in Munich, we check-in in this hotel. We discover excellent location, excellent breakfast, excellent employs . The employs of the reception was very kindly, helpful in any time. We`ll be back at this hotel very soon.
We stayed here for 4 days. It's in a perfect location, staff is very friendly and made every effort to converse in English. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Rooms were clean.....nothing fancy, and offers a free in-room bar which is replenished daily. Outside could be a tad loud at night but overall, I would highly recommend.
Small rooms with slanted ceilings that we kept knocking our heads on! Tiny bathrooms with a shower that splashed and flooded the bathroom floors. Detached housekeeper who did a poor job refreshing the rooms and had a dour countenance. On the plus side - Clean functional rooms with comfortable beds. Very central location yet in a side lane so the rooms were quiet. Really appreciated the kettle in the room.
