If you are looking for a traditional American big box hotel, this is not your choice, but if you are looking for a fabulous hotel; close to town hall, the Hofbrauhaus, and the National Theater, clean, with an amazing staff who speak English, then this is your choice. The staff were very attentive to our needs and were very helpful in navigating the city. The breakfast was very good (even though it was the same every day). They had an espresso machine to help keep the caffeine levels high! The room was small and had two twin beds pushed together. I am not a fan of the sleeping bags in Europe (just joking I know they are not sleeping bags) but the ones provided were quite warm and comfortable. The bathroom was quite modern. Overall an excellent stay.
Lovely, spacious room in a wonderful hotel located in a great location! The staff was very friendly & helpful.Great value for this reasonably priced hotel.Within walking distance of many shops & restaurants, including the world famous Hofbrauhaus.
Great location in the city centre Not possible to reach by car (streets are onw way or broken open, parking in the neighboorhood-10 minutes walk costs €21,- a day) Clean but small rooms (ours had one window and felt claustrofobic). Hard bed (not recommendable, we have slept really bad) High price No coffee/tea facilities in the room (you can get free coffee at the bar downstairs but you have to order tea at the restaurant whilst waiting next eating people (which is awkward and have to pay €3,40) Breakfast is good
Our first trip to Munich and we chose Hotel An Der Oper based on location and reviews. The location of this hotel is great for people trying to see Munich. Sure, it's located just a short walk from the opera. But even better it is located very close to the world famous Hofbrauhaus! It is a very short and easy walk to the Marienplatz with it's wonderful architecture and major transport hub. We came during Oktoberfest which was a very easy trip on the underground from Marienplatz. This boutique hotel is broken up into several sections, were were in the main section with the reception area. Service at the desk was attentive and friendly. Our room was immaculatly clean and maid service was extremely efficient. The room was roomy and comfortable by European standards. Our "king" bed was two twins pushed together, something we see often when traveling in Europe. Beds were very firm as seems to be the norm. Breakfast in an adjacent restaurant was very good. There is a Italian restaurant in this space at night that is quite good. This is an extremely well run hotel in a perfect location. I would highly recommend this as a sure thing!…
Twenty years ago, I stayed at this hotel when I visited Munich with my mother, and I remembered we enjoyed our stay, so when my husband and I decided to visit Munich, I booked here again. It was even nicer than I remembered. Our room, which was in the annex, was really quite large with a separate sitting area and a very large bathroom. It was spotless, and because of the recent heat wave, the AC was greatly appreciated! The location is really wonderful, just a block or two away from the Marienplatz and the Residenz and we felt very comfortable walking to and from the hotel even at nighttime. The breakfasts were generous and served in the main dining room of the hotel restaurant, not in a corner of some lobby. One evening, they were having an open air opera in the Plaza in front of the opera house, and we left our windows open and could just hear the faint strains of the music; it was lovely. I would definitely book here again - perhaps sooner than 20 years from now!…
We had requested "early arrival" and our room was ready, even though it was only about 12:30 PM. Our room was small, but fresh, clean, and very adequate. We asked for an extra luggage rack and it was provided quickly. We had dinner at their Italian restaurant the first night -- we shared a pasta with truffles, which was good. Then a saltimbocca and chunks of beef with mushrooms, a bottle of Montepulciano, their house wine. Very good for the first night after a long flight!
We stayed the night at Hotel an der Oper on our last evening of a 2 week trip. We wanted to be close to the city center and transportation to the airport the next morning. Easy drop off for our driver right in front of the door was followed by a friendly greeting inside. The gentleman behind the counter was fluent in English and got us to our room quickly. The lobby was super clean and modern. My wife was very happy with the size of the room and how modern and clean it was. We went downstairs and it was only a few minute walk to the Marienplatz and ANY place in the city center we wanted to go. Super convenient !! After dinner, shopping and ice cream we had a pleasant nights sleep with no noise. We chose to not get breakfast although I'm sure it was fantastic, The walk with luggage the following morning was an easy one to the S-bahn where we took the S1 to the airport for 22 Euros for 4 of us. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone that doesn't want to fool around with travel into the city.…
Stayed here for 2 nights on our way to Vienna. The hotel is very close to restaurants and cafes. It's right around the corner from the Hofbrauhaus which was a ton of fun. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Nothing fancy about this hotel but was nice to be close to everything. We didn't find the staff to be very friendly when we checked in but not a big deal. Paid parking is available a few blocks from the hotel.
The hotel has no longe as such but then Munich has many cafes where one can sit and watch people. What it does have is clean comfortable rooms and an excellent Italian restaurant. Breakfast is ample and has something for everyone. You are in walking distance of the upmarket shopping street Maximilianstrass, the Viktualien Markt and obviously Munich’s Opera. My room was on the 5th floor and it was blissfully quiet. The windows are quite high and you therefore do not have a view. As I tend to be out all day It did not matter to me.
The hotel is very well localized, a few blocks from Marienplatz. There are many options of good restaurants nearby and is very close to the subway. The staffs are very kind. The room is very confortable, bed is excelent and everything very clean. I recommend.
