We had a very nice stay. The hotel front desk is very helpful. The location is perfect, we were able to easily walk to the Hoffbrauhaus for dinner. The room was decorated with old-world charm. There was also a fresh cut rose in the room, nice touch. I loved the private atrium with heated floors. Lastly, breakfast was great. We highly recommend this hotel.
Spent six days in Munchen at The Hotel Opera. It is within easy walking distance to the underground station and many local sites and eateries. The room (#41) was very quiet, but a little dated and worn. My only real complaint about the room would be it needed a dresser - someplace to put clothes for guests staying more than a few days. The pullout closet and single shelf was not enough. The breakfasts were very nice and filing - meats, cheeses, fruit, eggs - basically whatever you wanted - served by very efficient staff. But the area where the staff really shone was when we had a issue trying to get the results of our Covid test two days before our flight home. We had a PCR test done at Marienplatz testing center and we knew the results were negative, but we could not get the detailed report needed for our flight! No detailed results, no trip home. We asked Celine at the front desk to help us get the results, and she tried everything, including trying to download the app to get the results to her personal phone, but it didn’t work. We had a sleepless night stressing out over that. The next day, our final day in Munchen, we had booked an all-day trip to Neuschwanstein. We were about ready to cancel the excursion so we could work on getting the Covid test results ourselves, but Sebastian, at the front desk, said he would work on the problem and call the testing center himself. He was so sure about it, we decided to go ahead with the excursion to Neuschwanstein (which was wonderful) and leave it in Sebastian’s capable hands. He sent us emails throughout the day, giving us updates on who he had called and where we were stood. Long story short, when we returned to the hotel, we finally got our Covid test results printed out and slept well on our last night in Munchen. Without the wonderful front desk staff at Hotel Opera, I am not sure we would be sitting at home, writing this review. I think we would still be in Munchen - trying to get to the bottom of it. Thank you Hotel Opera for going above and beyond!…
Nice hotel and really friendly staff. The breakfast was excellent. The rooms were clean and very pretty, not modern but they fit really well with the look of the hotel. It has everything you need. Close to the centre. Would return
Fantastic location and brilliant staff. The breakfast choices were great and the service impeccable. The room was the slight disappointment for me. The mattress was really saggy and I found that both my husband and I were rolling into the centre. There was a lot of dust in the room which I noticed as it would be all over the feet of my tights each day and all over the fake flowers. I probably wouldn’t have noticed but for the fact I sneezed and it sent the largest amount of dust into the air-I’d get rid of them to be honest! The furniture was odd and the room had sooo many mirrors (although this may tickle some people’s fancy) but was adequate for a 2 night stay. The bathroom was very small but this wasn’t an issue as the shower pressure was good (although the shower door doesn’t shut properly). I was however shocked that they were trying to charge €4,50 for a 500ml bottle of Evian. Reading other reviews, when criticised about this management have simply said ‘it’s the norm’. Well it wasn’t at the other hotel we stayed at and if that is the case, how about setting yourself apart from the usual hotels and providing this (or at least at a reasonable cost). This alone made us very sure we wouldn’t have a drink in the hotel bar-god knows how much alcohol would have cost! Possibly styling themselves as more upmarket than they are, however we may have simply been a little unlucky with the room we were given (we spied a lovely room on our way out which looked far more tastefully decorated!).…
Arrived after a long day of delayed flights & disrupted trains to be greeted by very friendly receptionist. Check in was very quick. Our room was on 4th floor, nice & quiet. Decor is funky if a little dated. The dried flowers on dressing table were covered with dust as was the skirting boards so wasn’t as clean as could be, but not a disaster. Bathroom was again dated & small, but shower had good pressure & temperature. Breakfast both mornings was a very nice experience. Staff are excellent and efficient. Usual assortment of cold cuts & cheeses & smoked salmon brought to the table on a cake stand. Felt like old fashioned English opulence. Food nice and very pleasant experience. Location very good, 15 min walk to Mariennenplatz. Tram stop & U Bahn stations very close by as well. Very pleasant stay, would recommend…
Every time we go to Munich we stay at this beautiful hotel - the people are wonderful - The breakfast is perfection ! Full Service Boutique Hotel - HIGHLY recommend !- Great location too - close to downtown area
From the moment we arrived, tired from our long flight, we knew we made the right choice. The location was perfect near a small quiet square. The entire staff was attentive and helpful. Our junior suite was lovely. Even though the rooms do not have a minibar or coffee/tea set up, the staff was quick to always accommodate a request. The hotel is privately owned and all details are expertly taken care of.
I never take the time to write reviews but we had such a wonderful experience I wanted to share it with others. Hotel Opera's website says "a place to relax and feel at home" and the staff exemplified this. They were so friendly, helped us with directions, taxis, Oktoberfest tips, serving wonderful breakfasts, and opened the bar late night for us! They were attentive and responsive to every detail. The hotel is also convenient to many attractions and 1 block from a subway stop. We will stay there every time we visit Munich! John
Just had 3 nights stay in this beautiful quirky hotel- all the rooms have different furnishings and ours had an elegant enclosed balcony. It’s located just a few minutes walk from the city - and if you wish you can hire a bike from the hotel as Munich has many cycle lanes it’s easy to get around. As the weather was so nice we ate our breakfast, which was freshly cooked to order, in the pretty courtyard - it was simply delicious. The team were very friendly and attentive and made us feel very welcome - we would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone.
Stayed here for 2 nights while in Munich for a trade show. It's a nice cosy place not to modern but comfortable. The room is the size that you would expect for a German hotel. the only down side was that there was no A/C in the room just a fan which meant I had to sleep with the window open which was not a problem as it was a safe place. Check in and check was easy and good, the bathroom was a bit small but had everything. Breakfast was good, I would stay here again. all in all it was a good stay.
