It's a nice and simple hotel at O'gau, not to fancy but enjoyable, with very friendly staff (which is common in the Bavarian country). Nice comfortable and very clean rooms. For the price (quality/price ratio) is an excellent choice. Also very good restaurant and a very nice bar (Andy's Bar) for a fun evening specially when Johnny Guitar shows up...

I had spent 3 weeks in Oberammergau attending 7th Army school back in 1970 so I was somewhat familiar with Oberammergau, however, the Parkhotel-Sonnenhof did not exist back then. I was not sure what to expect. My wife and I spent 5 nights at the Parkhotel-Sonnenhof in mid September '13. Parking was an item that attracted me as on-site parking...

We turned up on spec late afternoon. The man at reception couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. We were given a beautiful junior suite with balcony and were advise we could use all the facilities, including the pool, etc. Also a ticket for free parking within the town. The table d'hote menu was 5 courses and excellent. The hotel...

Nice and quiet location, outside the city centre, but in walking distance. The room was clean, seemed to have been recently refurbished. I was not sure about the position of the bed diagonally across the room. It was not possible to sit up in the bed to read a book etc because of this. The hotel had a lively pub,...

Coming to Oberammergau for serveral times already I knew the Parkhotel Sonnenhof from comments made by others. Finding a good price option by HRS I decided to check-in there this time and I was not disappointed. The room offered was spacious, had a balcony and comfortable seats. TV, Minibar and Hair Dryer were available and free WiFi in the room...

We stayed here in mid September and it was Wonderful. We had booked a junior Suite and it was excellent, balcony accessible from both the sitting room and the bedroom. The views were very good overlooking the town with mountains in the background and river running past the hotel. We had booked half board and the evening meals were varied...

Lovely place with individually outfitted rooms in Bavarian wood. Excellent restaurant and bar with lots of theme buffets, around EUR 20.- There is a small indoor swimming pool and nice sauna facilities. The staff was wonderful, giving advice, renting out bikes etc. Internet WLAN is EUR 5 for the whole stay (as of May 2012). Loved it!

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Our double room meant 2 single beds pushed together (as appears to be the case throughout Germany). I could feel the individual springs digging into me when lying in bed. Our room had a bad smell from outside the bathroom window, which meant we couldn't open the windows. The...

I stayed at Parkhotel Sonnenhof for a week in October 2011 and found it to be a very good hotel. It's well maintained, spotless and enjoyable with a fine restaurant, a relax section with a swimming pool/sauna, a bar and so on. The room I stayed in was fairly large with a balcony, TV (I could only find three english...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
"Feeling well has a reason". Under this motto, we like to welcome you in our Parkhotel Sonnenhof The Parkhotel Sonnenhof is a family owned 3 - star - Superior - hotel in the higher middle class, build 1977 in an alps - country style. It has 35 doubles and superior doubles, 5 single rooms and 15 junior suites and apartments. The Parkhotel is located in the beautiful scenery of the Ammertal, in the outskirts of our village and right in front of the "Kofel", the main mountain of Oberammergau which is inside the Ammergau Alps. It is not least the extraordinary people who have made Oberammergau to what it is: a colorful array of art, culture and tradition, a successful blend of earthy local ties and cosmopolitan hospitality. Masterful "Luftlmalerei" (house paintings) emblazoned on the fronts of houses, all thriving arts and crafts, cozy restaurants and cafes tempt you to stop. The village's cultural and spiritual legacy was shaped by the Passion of Christ. Since 1634, Oberammergauers have kept their vow to stage a Passion Play every ten years, the next occasion being in 2020. On the last occasion, some 2,500 of the approximately 5,300 inhabitants of Oberammergau were involved on or behind stage, including 500 children. During the interim years, high-calibre international ensembles present plays and concerts. Visit us and experience the magic of Oberammergau's creative flair Hiking, Nordic Walking, Cycling or simply swimming and sun bathing - the possibilities are almost unlimited in the Ammergau Alps. In wintertime the Ammergau Alps offer a lot of activities - cross-country skiing, skiing, tobogganning, snowshoeing - the snow-sure situation of the Ammer Valley allow almost everything. The Bavarian fairy tale King Ludwig II is closely connected with the Ammergau Alps. Here stands his Linderhof Palace, the only one which he also lived for several years. Also castle Neuschwanstein which is just 45km away. At the end of a day with many activities and cultural experiences relax in our modern wellness area or treat yourself with a luxurious beauty cure or a massage of your choice. ... more   less

“Describe what you like and the staff will give you the best advice. All the hotel is located in a very quiet corner of the town. Personnaly, I like the ones facing the town. No noise is heard, other that the sound of the church bells that echoes through the valley and the river flowing nearby. No A/C but very efficient heating system. TV, separate dressing-closet, safe, and minibar with assorted beverages was available in my room (junior-suite).”
