We just returned from a 4-night stay at the Neuhausl hotel situated just outside Oberau near the Austrian border in Germany. The hotel is driven by two very attentious and caring families involving several generations of the family and also a friendly and serviceminded staff. The hotel is located very close to both Roßfeld ski lift and rental opportunities in Oberau. Excellent for families and newcomers in skiing. Advanced lift areas can be found all over the area of Berchtesgaden, where the hotel is located. The skilift cards work for several of the areas jointly, so you can try out a new area each day, if you feel like it. Hotel has quite advanced offerings in the spa and massage section, which steam baths, heated pool, buble baths, cold area, sauna and infrared zones. Both family and couple areas are clearly marked, providing “safe guidance” to those with more privacy concerns than others. Hotel has its own restaurant with a broad selection of local and traditional dishes and offers both half board and ala carte. For half board we found the daily selections to be rich and plenty for the entire family. Staff is very helpful and service minded, and they cared for all our requests without doubt and always with a positive resolutions. Our stay was perfect - we did not expect much before visiting, but we got so much more, and we are already now considering booking it again for next year.…
Having had a play in the snow with our toddler we looked along the way for a hotel that was open for hot chocolate and to warm our toes up! The staff were excellent and spoke good English as we are terribly low in our German skills! They accommodates us and our roudy 2 year old for hot chocolate and cake at a reasonable price and the atmosphere was so warm and relaxed with stunning snow scenes all around (but well ploughed roads) we booked in for our Christmas lunch. Our toddler was hyped on the excitement of Christmas but they didn’t blink an eye as he played around. We to our relief we’re tucked in a corner booth with a gorgeous view of the mountains. The food was divine my husbands steak was melt in the mouth! All so reasonably priced and the atmosphere again was cosy and friendly. The place felt high end but not snobby and was immaculately clean! We have a brochure and plan to return and stay at this hotel in the future, the spa looks intriguing too as does the close access to ski runs and other attractions! Thank you to lovely staff once again!! …
We stayed at the top of the hill across the street, on the Austrian side, and ate several meals here. Classic schnitzel was very good as was the beer (of course). Service was mostly good with the only exception being a long wait to get menus for our dinner meal.
The hotel is in a quiet area near the Austrian border. Room with large balcony, small TV and small bathroom. Separate basket towels for sauna. A quiet room at the edge of the forest - slightly worn, otherwise cozy. Breakfast is the poorest meal in the whole trip. Half-board dinner with reasonable doses. Salad table very poor. Service OK.
I booked this Berchtesgaden Hotel and arrived a good 10 minutes after driving through the town. The hotel is a long way from the town, not even a mobile phone signal. That's one bad part. The other is that some of the rooms, unfortunately like mine, room 101, do not enjoy the best views. However, those are the only bad points and I should have checked the location. There is the free (with guest card) bus 200m away into the town. The rooms and bathrooms are to a very high standard, good size TV (no English channels), Bathrobes and fridge. The pool and wellness areas are nice but the single sauna is quite small for this size hotel. The staff are polite but not always evident. The breakfast is continental plus eggs to order and there is a reasonably priced hotel restaurant. Plenty of car parking. Wifi is free and fast enough to stream.…
Earlier in the day, we passed by this place and had a quick lunch, which can be eaten in- or outside, which was reasonably priced and ok. For the evening, we back for a dinner and regretted it very much. A number of reasons why we did: 1) menus were handed out (although one missing), but when ordered they were never picked up again, so we put the heavy books on the nearby table 2) food did not arrive at the same time and one dish arrives 13 minutes after the first one 3) this dish included hardly cooked and cold vegetables which could not be cut with a knife, two others at the table had the same vegetables which were ok 4) the dish was sent back three times, but it remained the same vegetables (micro-waved?) with bites cut off 5) while two people were still eating, we were asked for cappuccinos 5) we were ignored afterwards and when the dish was returned half eaten, no apologies whatsoever were made 6) after 10 minutes of waiting, we were asked to clear to table and hand plates back to the waitress who did not look at any of us 7) the waitress draw the conclusion herself that we did not want schnapps or coffees and the bill came 8) when we asked if we could pay, the comment was made who was paying what; one person was paying for us all, like normal 9) we said we were happy to pay but wanted to see the bill first and had to walk to the counter where the food we ordered was put in the till 10) we complained that we had to pay the dish returned three times and suddenly there was no chance any longer they spoke or understand Englisch 11) they took the dish off (before we could do so), but complained we did not order any ice cream or coffees 12) no apologies were ever expressed. The other dishes ordered were ok, nothing special. The serving staff have lost their smile, client friendliness and politeness. Suggest to avoid this place, can not think of a reason to return.…
We stayed for a long weekend at this family run hotel, a short drive from Berchetsgaden. The hospitality of the entire family and staff was amazing. You were made to feel so welcome right from the start and throughout the entire stay. Nothing was an issue. We had a meals included package (breakfast and dinner). The meals were of excellent quality, varied and plentiful in portion size. We also had a lunch in the restaurant (Smoked Salmon and Asparagus with sliced ham- see pictures), very reasonably priced and super quality. The pool and sauna areas were very relaxing and well appointed. The location is quiet with surrounding pastures and stunning mountain views - absolute classic Bavaria.
We have been coming to this hotel for many years. In our view it is just perfect, just like coming home. The location is wonderful and the rooms, food and staff are excellent. It is also in the most beautiful countryside on Earth. Here there is peace and tranquillity and the hotel is beautifully situated. We can’t get enough of it.
We stayed here for one night as our original choice in old town Brechtesgaden was overbooked. We were glad we did. Our room was spacious, clean and quiet. The location away from the main town was perfect as we enjoyed the countryside feel of the surroundings but were only 7 minutes from the town center. We selected half board and the value of the dinner at 11 euro was fantastic! Great salad bar and entrees, but the tartufo for dessert was the star of the show...If we return again to the area, this will be our top choice over a hotel in the old town..
Great location, still within short driving distance of Berchtesgaden town proper, but remote enough to be dead quiet during the night --- very important! As noticed by other reviewers, *some of* the staff are not among the most friendly and the hotel's decor is on the verge of good taste, while the new rooms are more neutral and not as crammed with all the usual bavarian/alpine gadgetry. Quite expensive for what you get I'd say. I might come here again with a 50% chance.
