We stayed at Hotel Goldener Hirsch over 35 years ago. Much is the same, reassuringly, with all the modern upgrades available, including free Wi-Fi. There is also a parking deck with several garages for those who wish to keep the weather off their vehicles. This is a venerable, old establishment which is part of its charm. One downside for the... A great location - across from the train station, a short pleasant walk to Festspielhaus and town centre, near to buses and taxis & a selection of restaurants. Comfy rooms with good bathroom. My room had a fan provided which I much prefer to Air-con. Good breakfast, pleasant staff. Downsides - No lift. Not cheap (but then it was peak... More

The hotel is by the railway station with walking distance both to the old town and the Festspielhaus. Pricey for the Wagnerfestspiele, like everything in Bayreuth, but ok value for money, and very convenient. Friendly welcome, good service, nice breakfast, good restaurant in the Hotel. Very convenient parking, inside or outside, reasonably priced.

This hotel is a very pleasant place to stay when in Bayreuth -well placed close to the station and the main town and about 15 minutes walk from the Festspielhaus if you are going to the opera. It also has a very good restaurant attached -open after the performance. The hotel itself does a good breakfast. The management are incredibly... More

We are here fur the Wagner festival again and staying at the GH, again. There really is nowhere to beat it - comfortable rooms and outstanding service from Herr and Frau Hirschmann and their staff. Just a walk away from the Green Hill.... Recommended unreservedly.

I am very generous in my hotel reviews, however, this is one I shall never book again. We knew there was no air conditioning, but did not know we would be placed on the 4th (top) floor of this walk up. We could not sleep very well and we were awakened each morning by a jack hammer. When we explained... More

The interior of the Hotel Goldener Hirsch is very traditional with dark wooden walls and carpets. It clearly stands out with exceptional service and a well chosen breakfast buffet. It's close to the train station (no noise), but also close to streets, so you may have to deal with some traffic sounds, depending on your rooms location (closed windows keep... More

We stayed at this hotel for a week this July. Yes the hotel is a bit dated and could use a interior facelift, but the service of the hotel staff more than made up for this. The ladies were very friendly and accommodating for any request that we had. They had great patience with us because we always had a... More

This building was constructed in the early 20th century and little appears to have changed since then. The decor is decidedly dated. On the plus side the rooms are clean, the staff friendly and helpful and the breakfast plentiful albeit uncooked apart from scrambled or fried egg. There is no lift and no air conditioning. Don't stay here if disabled.... More

an ok hotel very close to the train station in the small town centre. Stayed in a 3-people room, clean hotel, staff were very helpful during the booking process - less so when I arrived. the room is fine, clean, a little old and odd (sink in the room for example, not in the shower). Breakfast leaves something to be... More
