The Hotel Krone was a nice change from the large (oversize), impersonal chain hotels. The staff was very friendly, the hotel has a nice historic charm. The restaurant meals were very good. Best of all the staff at the front desk and restaurant were very friendly. It actually made for an enjoyable evening dinner discussing meal and beer choices in my limited German and the waiter's limited English. Yes there are other that spoke English but what is the fun in that. rooms are small but felt it added to the charm. Exercise rooms could use some improvement, add a treadmill, more TVs.
This is a more functional than fabulous hotel, but it does the job in that you will get a quiet, solid night's rest. Be prepared for the typical twin bed experience in the standard rooms. The shower/bathroom is also typically small, but this is made up for my the peaceful rest you will receive in this uber quiet hotel. The front desk staff are helpful and lovely. The hotel is immaculate! It's a bit of a time warp as it still uses standard keys, but this just add to the overall charm. I love that it has mail slots at the front desk - old school!
Hotel is not fancy but comfortable. Very clean. Located on the village center, restaurants and shops within steps of hotel. Brunch was the best we found - delicious, variety of cheeses, meats, bread and attention to detail in presentation. A real treat.
My wife and I were part of a coach tour travelling from Scotland to Italy and stopped off at the Hotel Krone on our way there and on our way home again. Due to an accident which had caused problems on the autobahn we arrived late for dinner, but the hotel's staff could not have been more accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and all of the staff had excellent English. Equally on our way home again, the staff were excellent. The hotel is really lovely inside as well as outside, and the rooms were very modern and clean. Food was also very good, so all round I would thoroughly recommend this hotel as a first class stopping off point.
I travel to Bretten on business and always stay at the Krone if rooms are available. It is very popular for business travellers. The hotel is clean and comfortable and staff are all friendly and helpful. The rooms are a good size, the only minus being no air conditioning during the summer months, albeit my room had an air cooler which made it comfortable. The hotel is centrally located with several bars and restaurants in close proximity. There is plenty of choice for breakfast, both hot and cold. On this trip the restaurant was closed for evening meals but I have eaten there in the past and food was always excellent. There was some refurbishment in progress during my stay, but it caused minimal disruption. There is a small sauna in the basement which I had to myself and found very relaxing. I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to this area.…
