Detailed Reviews
We arrived without reservations with ideas on staying at another hotel. My partner decided to check at the tourism information office and was persuaded to check out this hotel. He was happy with the price and reviews/ratings so we booked a room. First the room they had was 2 beds, we asked for 1 which was only available for a shorter stay. We went with that. We go to the room and realized it's full of mosquitos. they gave us another room without mosquitos. Unfortunately, on the last night I had a mosquito that woke me up. Otherwise, a nice room with a partial view of the port. It did get warm at night and I couldn't figure out how to adjust the air conditioner, which displayed that it was on but never cooled. the breakfast was good. The staff was very nice and provided water bottles. The night clerk kept an eye on things so we felt pretty secure when coming in late. The location was perfect. We appreciated the soundproof windows because that's a very noisy neighborhood.

We stayed here in October and booked partly due to the good price so we were pleasantly surprised by the great location, the friendly staff and the great room with a view. We were literally 10 metres from the harbour and all the restaurants but slept very well. They also arranged a taxi to take us to the airport for our early flight.

It is an acceptable choice for 1-2 nights. The hotel’s location , being at the marina, is ideal and it is also a walking distance to the train station. The room, while small, had a comfortable bed, was clean and the windows were well insulated so that the rooms was very quiet despite the noisy neighborhood. The breakfast, at extra cost, was very nice. Everything fresh and a good
variety of choices. It was the best option given that there really isn’t a nice cafe type of place nearby. The administrative aspect at hotel i found troublesome… gave us incorrect info on transport to the train station, did not find our reservation, printer was broken so couldn’t get a bill copy and while i prepaid for 2 nights and didn’t make it for the first, invoice supposedly showed 2 nights stay … no help with the insurance coverage for the missed one night.
We would not stay there again.

I booked this hotel through bookings.com
Took my booking with 24hr cancellation policy. This hotel went into my account and locked €130 last week when my account was low in funds and created a difficult financial situation for me as I had another payment returned. I had cancelled my booking but the money was locked in my account anyway. I will have to see what happens but my advice is under the current situation not to book this hotel and more importantly, do not book via bookings.com as I hold them responsible and no contact or help from them, no connections or links from one to the other, it’s like that don’t want to hear about problems, just debit your card and post questionable reviews in my opinion on there site. Please be advised ....

Dear guest, when you proceeded to the reservation a pre authorization of the amount of the first night was made on your credit card in order to guarantee your reservation. We didn't debit this amount. We are really sorry for the inconvenience caused on your account. Hoping you will still think of us if you come back to Marseille to give us the chance to make you change your mind. Best regards

We visited Marseilles for ten days and did not have Internet all ten days that we were staying at the Hôtel Escale Oceania Marseille. We were told that it should be fixed after a few days but it never was which was an issue when looking for directions to places, etc. The hotel is clean but the room was tiny. The toilet and shower are not in the same room which is odd. I had some items dry cleaned and they came out nicely but when I tried to have a few more items cleaned we were told the service was not available. We stayed at three different hotels while in France and this was our least favorite. The service was average and the room was average. The best thing that can be said is that the location of the hotel is fantastic. Do consider that their is street music going on until midnight every night if you are a light sleeper.

Travelled as a solo tourist and as a base, this hotel was ideal for exploring for 3 nights. The comfortable attic room suited my needs perfectly. Spotless clean, comfortable, and great shower with ritual toiletries. I didn't take breakfast at the hotel as I wanted to sample as many local croissants as possible! The area does have a number of homeless people, but I felt very safe in the hotel and the staff were very friendly.

+1
Great location, very safe and accessible to public transport . We stayed in the superior port view room with the balcony. The beautiful exterior picture of the old character hotel advertised does not continue inside. It feels more like a Best Western standard / hostel style hotel from reception to the bedrooms that are very basic but were clean. On our first morning there was a very egg smell odour from what seemed like was coming from the water. Reception sent the lady that was only staff supplying all the breakfast to deal with the maintenance issue as well which was not nice to see her having to deal with food and maintenance at same time. She sprayed the sink with a bleach and provided a plug which did stop the smell. Breakfast was convenient rather than nice. Overall we had a short 3 day stay in Marseille without children which was wonderful. We would not return to this hotel but would recommend if your first visit based on location and views. Definitely not suitable if have young children. Hope that is fair and constructive review.

Sally at reception was extremely helpful sorting error from my British airways booking. She gave me details about mobile phone stores 4 in total walking distance from hotel ,supermarkets . Room very clean with balcony double bed separate bathroom/toilet . Central location shopping centre restaurants /coffee shops/ museums/ fast food all within walking distance . Hotel is opposite metro station if you want to travel to another part of the city. I stayed at the hotel 12th March for one night , i was in MARSEILLE to watch Marseille v Strasbourg fantastic atmosphere inside the Velodrome. Catherine at reception when i checked out in the morning was also helpful. I came back down to reception early afternoon after i had checked in Small was finishing her shift i asked her the quickest route to the Velodrome she was taking the Metro going home, she helped me buy a return ticket for the station to leave the train for the football match at the Velodrome. Very Big Thank You to Sally. I would stay at the hotel again.

the girl at the reception was very young, little customer experience, no english spoken, non-cooperative.
the room was average but the worst part was the lack of refrigerator or available water and ice to drink in such hot days. only a machine down at the reception with a cost of Euro 2,00 per little bottole of water!!!

Dear Gecchele good morning, One of the girl at the reception you spoke with, is very young but she has experience in reception and takes care of all foreign customers very well She also allowed you to change your rate to benefit from an upgrade to a room with a sea view, and gave you a bottle of cold water to replace the one in your room. So she understood everything you asked her. Indeed, the additional cold water bottles at the reception dispenser cost 2€ , which seems completely normal to me. Kind regards Céline PARIENTE - Hotel Manager

Outstanding staff from front desk to housekeeping. Room was large with windows that open onto a view as requested upon reserving. Was able to get a chair with a back on it to enjoy reading in those windows. LIghts not working on one wall (a wiring problem, not burned out bulbs) which couldn’t be addressed over the weekend. Recommend and would stay again.

There is no need to take a taxi. In front of Terminal 2 (there are 2 terminals next to each other. )there is a bus going to St Charles bus/train station which is the city center. Bus takes 30 mins costs 10 euros for each person. . In the bus there is place for all luggage .
From St Charles to the hotel ;
you can walk. It takes around 15 mins. OR you can take a metro (one way single around 1,5 euro) metro station is right in front of the hotel.
For metro ; Take the blue line from St Charles and after 2 stations you are at the hotel.
Hi the email for this hotel this website will not let me post if you go to their web page and by pass Tripadvisor its there under contact
Hi.
If you park under the commercial plaza where the Art Gallery is, it’s very expensive. There are lots close to the hotel that are about 15 euro per day. I just left my car there the whole time I was in Marseille. It was much easier to walk everywhere or take the subway.
Hope this helps.
