The Deck Hotel by HappyCulture, a chic and elegant establishment in Nice, one step away from the Promenade des Anglais! As a break from the realities of everyday life, The Deck Hotel displays a clear atmosphere, enhanced with shades of blue ; immediate boarding in a Greek universe, warm and light. The Deck Hotel opens its doors after 6 months of renovation. From the entrance, the unique corridor dares the colors of the Mediterranean, which reflect the spirit of the place : an escape on the deck of a boat. During the visit, the light colours of the walls contrast with furnitures, accessories, geometric fabrics and suspensions. Furnitures are modern and preserve a certain elegance of the French hotel business. Accessible from all the spaces on the first floor through wide doors, around the armchairs and low tables that are arranged to create small lounges - a stopover in Greece is guaranteed - the terrace offers an experience. Welcome to The Deck Hotel.

This hotel is great for many reasons. The first of which is its location. The hotel is in very close proximity to the pedestrian streets of Nice, making it easy to get where you want to go. The hotel is also very clean. Every inch is sparkling and it has a nice scent to itself as well. All the staff are very nice and the rooms are as well. There were only a couple issues I had with this hotel. The first was our shower. It really flooded the bathroom when we used it, and it made our whole room damp after we used it. My other issue was the window. You could open it all the way and there was no screen. While we didn't have any children with us, it seemed a little dangerous to us, as a child could fall out the window.

Dear Owen, We would like to thank you for taking the time to share your experience following your recent stay at the Deck Hotel. Thank you so much for all your compliments! We are very happy to read that you enjoyed our location. It is true that our hotel is ideally located, it is very convenient to go to strategic areas, such as the old town, the seaside, or the main avenue to do some shopping! We also pay particular attention to the cleanliness of the establishment, its style, and of course, the quality of the welcome. We are glad to see that you have been sensitive to all these points. We would like to tell you that we have well taken note of your comments about the shower. Our shower doors will be checked and repaired. Regarding the windows, please be informed that our hotel has of course been approved by the security committee, and that all the security rules imposed by French standards are respected. Thank you again for your feedback and we hope to welcome you soon at the Deck Hotel Best regards

The hotel is well situated, about 100m from the beach and within easy walking distance of the old town.
From the moment you step inside you feel safe knowing the hotel is taking its COVID-19 precautions seriously with sanitization stations everywhere you would hope and expect.
The room itself was small but perfect for a weekend break in Nice and the breakfast was perfectly OK considering the current situation.
The icing on the cake however, are the staff. A special mention for Jerome and Josephine, who went out of their way to make our birthday surprise a HUGE success! Thanks guys, we really appreciate what you did for us!

Hotel is 5 min walk or less to the beach and multiple restaurants. There is a parking garage on the same street only about 3 min walk away. Check in was great. They gave us a map and pointed out all the sights and said if we needed any recommendations or had any questions just ask. Breakfast was limited due to COVID, but still sufficient. Our room was right off the first floor where breakfast was served so there was some noise, but it wasn't bad. There is a grocery store right next to the hotel for any fruit, snacks or whatever you might need. Air conditioning worked great!

Dear blondie1439, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience following your recent stay at the Deck Hotel. Indeed, our establishment is perfectly located, very close to the sea, restaurants and shops. We are happy to read that our staff xas able to guide and advise you during your stay. Indeed, our breakfast had to be considerably reduced in order to respect hygiene standards. Of course, we look forward to offer our previous breakfast, once this health crisis will be finally over. We stayed a total of 3 nights location is good and tons of eateries around plus the beach is 5 minutes away .

The Good- The overall look and feel of the place and breakfast spread ! AC wasn’t working but we got to know when we arrived at the check in counter and we were travelling with a kid so we liked the decor and decided to stay, the hotel did compensate by giving some discount on our 2 nights stay.

The Bad- A lot is left to be desired as far as room cleaning is concerned, we felt the floors were dusty and hair etc was flying around from previous check outs and despite request we only could get the towels changed late in the day, the linens are leaving some sort of lint which is making everything in the room seemingly dusty and white. This needs to be handled immediately. Jerome can be little more friendly at the Helpdesk and realise when people had a really bad day we are in a foreign country, having a terrible day not boarding our flight back coming back in desperation to check in again for the night , but he seemed to be in mood to have some fun raise room prices and not offer breakfast, also give a smaller room! Citing availability issues which looked like fake information.

Dear Mrs Deepti, Like already mentioned in our reply to you review on booking, we feel sad we could not please you for several reasons. You have enjoyed our localisation, our breakfast and that’s about it. Mentioning our A/C was down correct, but you should also mention that we have informed all our visitors prior to their arrival with accordingly email and upon checking in. It was possible to anyone to cancel his reservation at no cost. Indeed, for guest willing to stay anyway we offered discount as a compensation. Once again we feel sad about your severe judgement with the rest of our facilities such as the housekeeping department first that usually collects a lot of compliments regarding the quality of their work in making all rooms cleans. Please accept our apologies if this was not of your impression with the room allocated to you on your first stay and I would have encouraged you in warning us immediately at the reception so we could have checked that together immediately and made sure adequate actions were taken to please you. What a pity not warning us on the spot allowing us to check and correct that at once. I also would like to make sure that it is clearly understood that after one night stay, we do not change the bedsheets and that indeed towels are changed if dropped in the sink like it is mentioned in the bathroom itself and like the wood panel placed on your bed encouraging you in helping us with our RSE program. You must have noticed that we at the Deck Hotel and for the Happyculture group from all information about our RSE program that we are very much concerned about our environmental implication, and we indeed offer our client not the change their bath towel daily like at home, a small gesture that can save a lot of water, especially in those days where natural water is badly missing in our area. On the other hand, you are reporting one of our male receptionists to be more playful than what he should? Please accept there again our apologies for the misunderstanding since this Receptionist happen to be our front office manager and that he is always very attentive to our guests need and expectations of course also depending on his capability to please our visitors. Jerome and the rest of the team are the most helpful and caring receptionist and very much recognized as so by all our clients. I am very sorry to read how badly you can judge him, while at the end of the day, we were fully booked and how he managed to get you a room anyway considering your situation. Of course, the price was not the same as the previous reservation, this is clearly understandable and not questionable. I would have rather you considered being able to spend the night in a hotel triple room instead of that severe judgement of yours, to be very honest. Our hospitality is known to be on very high scale by most of our visitors, as you can see on most of our reviews, I just feel very sad this could have been questioned by you and I will simply leave our visitors to judge the veracity of your review. I am extremely sorry that we at the Deck could not please you, but we still care about all our guest satisfaction and please be assured of our very best attention at all times. A perfect price benefit ratio, a nice hotel, a clean room and a cozy bed. What else do you expect? The hotel is located close to the old town of Nice, perfect place to get around to all attractions and making a perfect sightseeing stay. From outside the hotel does not look really nice and fancy, but from inside it looks different. Almost like on deck of a ship (as written in its name) you feel yourself welcomed on board. The staff is nice and really helpful, supporting you in getting your things done. The room itself was better than the standard. Hence, we had a quite big one for Nice. With a comfortable bed and a brand new shower which worked perfect we enjoyed our stay. There is free well working Wi-Fi. The air-condition is perfect and can also be used at night time since it is really silent. Windows and doors are sound-proofed. The breakfast was “Corona Style”. Let me put it this way: you can do it better. Each single piece was wrapped in plastic, not even metal cutlery. Everything from the buffet was served to you by the hotel staff. While the quality of the dishes was high, many things we missed. No eggs, no sausage, no pancakes. No hot dishes at all, neither Muesli or Yoghurt. Coffee in paper cups. That is a big minus, but we are sure, it was a decision made by the hotel chain management who tries to make things easy for them to fulfil government requests. However, it can be done better. Wearing gloves and masks other hotels already offer full buffet. Instead, you could also offer a served meal at the table (all egg dishes, all waffles, pancakes etc.). There is no reason to do it this way. Hence, I cannot rate it on highest level, I am sorry for it. The management should think about a change of their strategy. However, we can recommend and we would come back to this place.

Dear Martin, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience also on these pages following your recent stay at the Deck Hotel. We are very glad to read that we met your expectations. Indeed, our hotel is perfectly located, close to all strategic areas, such as the sea and its famous promenade des Anglais, the old town and its flower market, the pedestrian streets and their many restaurants, the main avenue and its shopping. Thank you for mentioning that our WIFI works particularly well. Also, all our rooms are equipped with Chrome-Cast! to send multimedia content from your phone or tablet to our TV. Our establishment was completely renovated in 2017 and 2018 aiming to reach that idea of being on a Deck. Regarding breakfast, we would like to clarify some points you mention. Indeed, we had to considerably reduce our buffet because of the strict sanitary rules imposed on us by the French Government. Our chain does indeed intend to follow all requested action to avoid spreading of the contamination and we do realize that sometimes it might sound sad but we must follow the rules everyone at our level. And I do thank you like all our visitors to understand that and to respect these necessary actions. In that order, I am very proud to inform you that we have been SAFEGUARD certified very quickly by Veritas like all our sister hotels We are now required to serve individually wrapped portions, and hot drinks are served in your disposable cups. This is just to avoid cross contact between guest and staff for the safety of everyone, not being safe otherwise even if machine washed. We still try to provide as many choices as possible: Hot drinks, apple or orange juice, 3 types of pastries, brown or white toast, baguettes, yogurt, compotes, fruits, waffle, rusks, gouda cheese, strawberry or apricot jams, honey, Nutella, half-salted or sweet butter, cereal chocolate or red fruit bars and many more that we may get proposed and that fulfil all requested barriers. Thank you again for your feedback, and hope to welcome you back to the Deck Hotel and please be assured of our very best attention at all time, Yours Sincerely, Tony Tsirepas General Manager

The Deck surprised us. It's situated in an unassuming spot near Old Nice and close to many shops, restaurants and the beach. When you walk in you are treated to a relaxing beach theme. Positive reviews about The Deck team is what attracted us to the hotel and they did not disappoint. They were quick to help us with a special situation and were wonderful to chat with whenever we spoke.

The rooms are minimalist and styled with groovy beach design. You will find standard amenities such as a refrigerator, Nespresso maker, and television.

Breakfast is wonderful, offering French options such as eggs, pastries, yogurt, and meats. American visitors will be pleased to find hot dogs available, but mustard is not provided. ;-)

I want to personally thank Tony, Jerome, Eleanor, Nicholas, and the whole The Deck team for going the extra mile to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We wish you all the best.

For me, this hotel is somewhere between a 3 and 4 star hotel - it’s not quite 4 star I’m afraid.

The hotel is modern and is in a great location, 1 min from the beach, 7 minutes from the tram station, 15 mins to the train station and about 25 mins to the port. There’s tea and coffee making facilities in the room and you can also help yourself to tea and coffee in the lobby. We were able to check in early which was appreciated after an early morning flight.

I probably wouldn’t stay at this hotel again. This is mainly due to the room size and how noisy the hotel is which makes getting a good nights sleep tricky. I booked a club double room and it was tiny. We had a street facing room and at 1:30am-2am every morning was woken up by a truck of some sort outside. There’s also a lot of noise in general from the street throughout the night. The walls are very thin so you can hear when someone in another room arrives or leaves their room or when they flush the loo. The bathrooms could do with an extractor fan as they’re a bit smelly. The shower tiles need a good clean and grouted as they have some mould.

Dear Emhams, first of all thank you for taking your time to share your experience in our Hotel The Deck. We are glad to know that you appreciated the hotel's location in the city center, the possibility to have coffe and water free 24h and the early check-in that, we want to specity, is not very esay to have during the high season. By the way, we are deeply sorry to read that the hotel did not answer your expectation and we would like to apologise. At the same time, we want to come back to all the subjects that you have mantioned. The room-size is well written on every reservations tools and, as you have written, the club room that you booked is a small category. About the noisy, maybe you would have required for a quite room and we would have given you a room facing our patio. We also remind you that we are in the city center, next to bars, cofes and restaurants and during high season there is a lot of people in the night. Regarding the smell, we apologise for this inconvenient and we would inform you that we will pass the information to the maintenance and the housekeeping service in order to avoid that this happen again. By the way, we would have preferred to talk with you about your disagrement in order to find a good solution, maybe giving you an other room. For us it was a pleasure welcomed you. Best regards, Eleonora - Front Desk

I booked this hotel as a break for my wife’s birthday early February 2023. I emailed the hotel in advance of our trip to inform them that it was my wife’s birthday and the hotel responded saying they will see what they can do for her.

Upon our arrival we were welcomed by the wonderful Eleanora who said that our room was not yet ready but to leave my number and bags and they will call us once it was ready.

A little stroll around Nice looking at the sites and our room was ready so we ventured back to the hotel, given our room key and proceeded to the room, we were given a free upgrade, a mini bottle of champagne and chocolates, what a touch.

The hotel is conveniently located just 15 minutes from the airport (by car) which we found ideal, just a few minutes walk from the beach and sea front. We knew that we could catch a tram/train from the airport but decided on an Uber as it took us right to the door for just fifteen euros.

The hotel is located upstairs on the first floor of the building a lift takes you up to reception. Directly opposite there is a supermarket (handy if you wanted a few snacks or drinks) and to the right a kebab shop. All around the block of the hotel there is a plethora of restaurants so you are spoilt for choice.

If you don’t mind a short 15 minute walk to the Old Town who will find a choice of restaurants on the Cours Saleya, this is where we chose to eat a few times, I recommend the Mama Mia restaurant, HUGE portions and great value for money.

Whilst we were here we walked to the main train station which just 10 to 15 minutes away. We caught a train to Monaco for the day which was amazing value for money at just 8 euros per person return, I highly recommend that you take a train to Monaco, one of the best train journeys that you will experience along the Cote D’Azur!

I could not fault this hotel at all for our stay, it was clean, a great choice for breakfast and quiet.

If you are looking for a hotel with great customer service and conveniently located in Nice then stay here.

A wonderful shout out and praise to Eleanora and the team at The Deck Hotel for making our stay for my wife’s birthday extra special.

Thank you :)

Disclaimer:Although a travel agent, I will always review based on a traveler perspective with customer service insight as I have lived both positions for a very long time. Customer service in conjunction with my experience as a customer is what drives my repeat business and recommendations to friends, family and clients.

Let me start by saying Nice was our three day relax stop on a mother daughter trip through Europe and this location did not disappoint. It is a neat little place, conveniently located in the midst of everything. The staff was absolutely friendly and awesome from the time we checked in to the time we checked out (even though we left really early in the morning). We happened to be staying during a time where there was some sort of US student group that was there, which brought some noise in the halls during certain times of the night, but it wasn't extremely terrible.

The room itself was great, coming equipped with everything we needed especially the towel warmers/dryers in the bathroom. Breakfast came with our rate and it was good, and the view was nice, and there were a few things that I found to eat that I liked during our stay there. I will say that the way the hotel is marketed, it seemed as if the Bar Deck was more than just a deck. However, it is a deck and you can get your drinks from the front desk. This would be something I would let my clients and family know before booking just so they know. That is the only thing that I would say threw me off a little bit from the hotel. Still, I was able to order a couple of regular bottles of wine and take upstairs to the room, and I did order a bottle to the room (they are mini bottles).

We did use the laundry service which was amazing, affordable, and fast. One of the days I was there, I was able to walk right out and walk a short distance to the water and enjoy myself. It is right in the middle of shopping, ATM's/Bank if you need it, food and so much more. Cleaning was great and we had no issues. It seemed like I always saw housekeeping around somewhere, and if we needed something they weren't far off for me to ask for it. I would definitely stay again and would definitely recommend to clients as a place to stay.

Unfortunately the photos I captured were only of the bathroom and the elevator so this review won't have any photos to accompany them. My hope is that you still find this review helpful.

The attention to cleanliness is one of my top priorities when staying at a hotel, well you will have that at the DECK Hôte in Nice (Cote D’Azur) France. Rooms are small, however, the design is really well done so you are comfortable. The reception staff is EXTREMELY helpful and professional and very easy to talk with. They offer a wonderful hot breakfast and they have a water filtration machine where you can fill up as you like. The location is perfect. Approximately a 6 minutes walk to the Promenade, there are a few very well known vintage shops nearby, one about 3 minutes away and the other maybe 8 minutes away. As soon as you walk out the hotel there are a myriad of restaurants to choose from. Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Max Mara, Massimo Dutti, is approximately 10 minutes or less away. Place Messina is about 15 minutes or less away. All times listed are walking (very easy) walk. And yes, for those interested, Starbucks is about an 8 minutes walk 😊

You can take the L2 tram from the Nice Côte d'Azur Airport to the Jean Médecin stop. Then, it's a 5 minute walk to The Deck. You can buy tickets for the tram at the airport and prices are pretty inexpensive at just a few Euro.
