Very comfortable and interesting hotel dating from 1959. Still original interesting architecture and design. Good rooms and service. Needs a restaurant. Breakfast is available. Lock up garage essential when travelling.
A beautiful place run by a charming young couple. They need some time to modernize amenities; being there was the perfect occasion to chill out completely and recharge our batteries. We loved it there.
This was unexpected. We did not want to stay in a city hotel (noise, parking) but right in the heart of the Camargue, close to Arles and Montpellier, very close to the coastal towns (like Saintes-Maries de-la-Mer) and practically in the neighborhood of the astounding bird sanctuary (Parc Ornithologique du Point de Gau) to observe the beautiful Flamingos for which the Camargue is so famous for. Les Cabanettes looked like the perfect place to have all these must-see locations near by. We expected some county inn but found a remarkable architectural gem: A Frank Lloyd Wright inspired semi-circle built from stone and concrete with intricate wood panels inside. A huge sparkling pool right in front of it. This 29 room hotel used to be neglected for decades which led to its demise and to devastating reviews on TripAdvisor. We learned about the history of the place from a young French-American couple who took over the place just a month ago and have achieved already a minor miracle. The property and the rooms are clean, the pool is huge and - as mentioned - sparkling. There is no working restaurant yet, but the couple serves a satisfying breakfast which is included in the price. As one can expect, the hotel is not perfect yet. But the efforts, the optimism, the dreams of the young owners are being felt everywhere. They create an inspiring atmosphere of a new beginning which I gladly reward with a 5 star rating. My wife and I wish them the stamina to master their adventure. And to our fellow travelers: Places like Les Cabanettes should be supported.…
This hotel was unusual, not to our taste but I guess some would find it interesting. The downsides were no Wifi in the rooms, which nowadays is very poor, mosquito attack, advice don't open the windows after dark, and very uncomfortable bed. The positives were that the staff lady was very sweet and helpful as we arrived very late and there was a terrace which for us smokers is very convenient.
It was very retro but enough if you stay only some days and only need it for the night. The breakfast was as simple as you know it from France. If you expect more from a hotel you definitely need to find something else. For us it was OK.
