Everything about this stay was very good. The check-in was freindly and professional as was the check-out.. The room was good with excellent bed, and very clean. Ibis brerakfast was up to the usual high standard. Cognac is a wonderful town.
OK, so we know it's a budget hotel, but... the rooms are VERY small, even for this class of hotel. There's no facilities in the room for making a tea or coffee. Apparently EVERY kettle in the hotel was broken. Really? Air-con in the room was subjective. That being said, the service overall was good, friendly welcome and plenty of local knowledge.
Excecellent staff, particularly the receptionist who check us in, and the night porter. Great location and easy access to town centre, Good clean and more than adequate bedroom. Excellent Covid-19 procedures well applied by the staff. Very pet friendly. Car parking on street or in adjacent public car park.
We arrived at 4pm. A large free car park is available across the road. We had 6 people booked with 3 rooms. Checked in fine and given the three rooms on the ground floor. Rooms ok. Bathrooms dated and small with grey concrete tiny separate loo. Went out for booked visits then dinner. Got back to the hotel tired around 9:15 with my elderly parents and two small children. The receptionist who checked us in earlier told us that there was a problem with our booking and we couldn’t go to our room. She asked for the confirmation but my phone was flat. My husband went to the car and retrieved a paper confirmation which we had. However she said this wasn’t valid. My daughter then was allowed to go to the room to retrieve a phone charger and we proceeded to charge my phone for the confirmation. All the time my parents were sat in the reception. When my phone charged I showed her the confirmation (which was the same as the printed copy) but she said she didn’t have this on her system. It was booked 5 months previously. I then also showed her an email received just 5 days previously saying that the hotel was looking forward to welcoming us! That’s a joke. She went through all her lever arch files and said No we didn’t have a booking. I was carrying a sleeping child and said maybe she could call the manager as I needed to get my children to bed. She said no. I said I’m not sure what more I can do. The problem is the computer system as we are all booked and paid for. Finally she looked on the computer again and my details came up for the three bookings. That’s me I said. She read it all and shrugged and said but it’s not in the planner! This was 45 minutes in the reception with elderly parents and small children. I said we can do no more we are going to the rooms! She said we couldn’t but we did. From there I called Accor customer service in Germany. They were very helpful and said our booking was fine and resent the confirmation which was the same as we had. They then called the reception to sort out the problem and then called me back. They were slightly exasperated and were surprised at the language of the receptionist but said she had agreed for us to use the rooms!!! They apologised. We received no apologies from the hotel and by gone 10pm I had very upset children. Our treatment was disgusting and it’s very obvious that’s there’s an internal training issue of staff. Making us all wait 45minutes worrying we didn’t have a bed for the night. Please avoid this place. Not up to Accor standards.…
well located in Cognac center; public parking available in front of the hotel. great service level. I arrived late but was well received with a smile. I forgot my mask in the car, but I was offered one when entering the hotel. a pleasure to stay in Accor hotels
The hotel is horrible, the room are old and with a terrible grey color on the wall. I mean we are talking about ibis hotel, not even an hostel is so Neglected and tremendously without personality. Moreover i had a welcome drink and they offer me just a really small bottle of water. The receptionist was not even talking english. Terribile experience. Nevver more.
We stayed here for one night, very friendly staff and helpful, the room was good and a comfortable bed, breakfast was very good and a good variety of food, coffee and fruit juice machine was ideal. The location is very good to do the tours of the cognac houses Martell and Meukow only a few minutes walk away. The town centre again a few minutes away with a wide range of restaurants. The hotel has a small bar however we did not use it. On the down side it is looking a bit tired and could do with a bit of updating. All in all good value for money and we would defiantly stay here again.
Lovely hotel in beautiful Charente. Friendly staff and free public parking. In the centre of the town, lots of restaurants and an excellent Thai and Indian. Major cognac houses to visit and taste cognac.
The hotel reception is compact and includes a bar,it would beefit from these two areas being reversed so the bar utilised the brakfast area and rooms and ift were left and right of the reception. A two person lift took us a bright, airy room with a spacious bathroom and independent w/c(Rare in IBIS) Bed was comfortable,WiFi strong and opposite was free public parkiing . Cognac is for cognac lovers, sadly I am not one but we dined well and it bennefits from a superb supermarket .
Great location for visiting cognac merchants. Martell directly behind. You can smell the ‘angels share’. Loads of free parking opposite. Small supermarket close by. Many great bars and restaurants in close proximity Separate toilet and bathroom- not very pleasant or hygienic Breakfast sound and constantly restocked by staff. Breakfast room small so squashed at busy times I imagine
