Visiting Cognac on business and had the pleasure of staying at this incredible place. Definitely a hidden treasure located in the South of France - great for couples. Be sure to visit Maison Villevert and Hennessy when you are here! the hotel was incredible, restaurants great, pool fabulous and the Spa was amazing!
My husband and I are sadly leaving this very special hotel today. We came to stay for a 3 day wedding that was being held nearby. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by the lovely Clementine who made us feel very comfortable with her excellent English and great sense of humour! We then met the wonderful David who was amazing. What a perfect manager! A fellow Yorkshire man who made our holiday! He looked after us above and beyond what was expected and made us feel very much at home. At breakfast we met the delightful Katie who managed the restaurant and helped us improve our French daily! We will sadly miss them all. We cannot fault the hotel and all of the staff in any way at all and would return without hesitation! P.S. we also ate in the Michelin restaurant and again experienced wonderful food and excellent repartee with the staff. Au revoir and Merci Beaucoup!…
Beautiful private modern estate in downtown Cognac converted from an old cognac distillery. Modern comfortable rooms with gorgeous architectural detail, immaculately maintained. Elegant cognac bar with so many fine selections to choose from. The service was impeccable. We dined at the fine restaurant and enjoyed their four course tasting menu with wine pairings. Pricey but everything was food art with attention to every detail. The wine pairings were outstanding. Would definitely recommend staying here.
The Hotel Chais Monnet is a lovely property just out from the Cognac town center. When I booked this hotel, I was concerned about how far it would be to walk to the town center from the hotel. It is not far at all and there are sidewalks. My room was extraordinarily spacious and very well-appointed. The on-site Michelin star restaurant was very convenient and served an excellent dinner. The staff was nice and helpful. My experience was lovely and enjoyable.
We stayed for 2 nights in the Chais Monnet in the summer - and wow - what a venue and special hotel. I have been incredibly fortunate to stay in hotels around the world and certainly this one feels unique. We stayed due to a wedding nearby and on every basis - from the spa to the restaurant to the rooms to the bar we all first rate. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a special stay in Cognac.
This is a beautiful hotel , an architectural gem mixing ultramodern with an old chais. Very tastefully decorated Amazing pool and spa A huge very well appointed room with both bath and shower All of this with the most delightful, helpful and professional staff who were brilliant A short walk along the Charente into town We didn’t do dinner here , went to Bistro de Claude so can’t comment on the food
we were en route from spain to scandinavia, needed a place to stay overnight and by chance found chais monnet. and what a great surprise, a beautiful, wonderful place, very comfortable, very kind and engaged staff, great restaurant. we will be back
If you are looking for a Dubai airport feel, this is the place for you! Glass corridors, random patches of bald grass, all views overlooking the car park, empty depressing bistrot in the basement, rock hard peaches in the best part of France for peaches. Rooms are impeccable. The most depressing and expensive hotel I have been to in a while. (Ever?).
Beautiful hotel in every way, an architectural masterpiece. Beautiful rooms, lovely food. The sunset at the rooftop bar is so beautiful and a must see if you visit. We did the Louis XIII experience which was outstanding and well worth doing if you're visiting Cognac. Overall the hotel lived up to it's 5 stars.
My family and I have just returned from the most idyllic trip to Cognac in France. We stayed at the Hotel Chais Monnet & Spa, which is a once in a lifetime experience. The hotel itself is set in the most beautiful grounds, filled with running streams, water lilies and architectural gardens that would be the envy of Chelsea Flower Show. I was especially thrilled to find two vintage Citroen 2CV’s outside the hotel, which provided lots of rustic French photo opportunities, al La The Chateaux! The hotel itself is set in the original grounds of the Monnet family home, which is just gorgeous. The design inside the rooms is luxurious and expensive. Our room was heavenly, with the biggest and most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, gigantic fluffy towels and a walk in wardrobe. The roof terraces attached to our room were my most favourite experience. It was so gorgeous to just sit back on the terrace in the evening and enjoy a delicious bottle of Bordeaux wine, and watch the swallows swoop over head. The staff at the hotel were so kind and welcoming. What wonderful people. The swimming pool and spa are also out of this world. The quality of the food and breakfast at the hotel was exceptional as was the friendly service. The locally produced honey from Bordeaux was delicious! Every morning my little boy was made a hot chocolate, to just the perfect temperature which made him so happy! Cognac is the most beautiful place to stay. There is so much to do and see and really soak up the simple beauty of France and relax!…
