We stayed two nights - two adults and two children- and had a wonderful time. The owners are warm and welcoming. The house is a trip back in time and the homemade breakfast is amazing with homemade jams and freshly baked pastries with fruit from the garden. We highly recommend staying here if you are in Saumur!
We booked for 2 nights (too short!) in la Bouere salee. The place is wonderfull- old french style - all rooms furnished with care - it's just that there is so much to see in the area: you actually would love to stay near the house (the library; the orangerie - it's all very inviting). The breakfast is too good and all the inside tips from Christine and Emanuel are absolutely worthwile
We stayed in one of the gites - le Bateau - which is part of a converted barn. It's beautifully done and very 'rustic' but there's everything you need to be able to look after yourselves. Set slightly apart from the main house, there's a gravelled courtyard and large garden with mature trees and tables/chairs for use by guests. Although on the outskirts of Saumur, you're within easy walking distance of a supermarket (Lidl) and it takes about 20 minutes to walk into the main town centre where there are plenty of shops and some great restaurants. Parking in the town is easy with free parking next to the river.
La Bouere Salee is a great place to stay. Catherine and Emmanuel are very welcoming. The rooms have a very traditional French feel. The breakfasts are to die for! By far the best place we stayed at during our two weeks in France. Highly recommended, we will be returning.
We stayed here at the start of our trip through the Loire valley. The hostess made us feel very welcome and gave us some welcome drinks upon our arrival which we thought very nice after our 7 hour train journey from London. Her English is also very good, but her husband not so much. The house is extremly well decorated and you feel as if you have stepped into another world but quite expectant of a house of this size. Our rooms were excellent. It was also very nicely decorated in a countryside feel and clean. We had a en-suite room which was also a plus. The garden outside is very nice to sit and have drinks or have breakfst on a warm day. The breakfast was also top quality and some of the nicest we had on our trip.It was a very welcoming and comfortable stay. It's a nice house too.
