My wife and I stayed here on 10th September for one night. We booked the hotel online and gave our card details and the terms state that no money is taken upfront. However our bank informed us that the room price was taken as authorisation. When we arrived we asked the manager who said nothing was taken. We duly payed the hotel room on departure just to find the original amount was still blocked and in essence we stayed one night but our bank statement showed we payed twice ... On further challenge the hotel were just defensive and blamed our bank. As writing this we still have not had the authorisation amount returned by the hotel. In summary nice hotel. Shame about this practise. Some of us rely on saving what little we have for spending money on holiday. Not to have it held to Ransome only to be charged again...SHAME.

Dear Mr. L., On September 7th, the day you booked your room, we did a pre-authorization on your credit card for the amount of your reservation (as referred to our sale conditions). This amount has not been charged on your credit card, it was locked on it until we released it (which was done on September 11th, the day you left). On September 12th we received your first email, in which you accused us of charging you twice and being dishonest. Despite the fact that your first move was to threatened us to write a bad review on internet, we explained you very courteously our conditions of sales and how the pre-authorization works, we apologized for the inconveniences and we redirect you to your bank since we are not responsible for their delay in unlocking your money. We do a pre-authorisation for all our bookings (as the majority of hotels does) and we have never been accused of dishonesty by any of our guest. We always do every things we can to provide the best service possible and we were very hurt by your accusations. We took the time to answer your five emails regarding this problem of pre-authorization and I personally did my best to give you every information I could, staying courteous and professional. I feel sorry you still think you have been abused and once again I can only redirect you to your bank where your money seems to be still locked regarding what you said in your review. As you have probably read in the other reviews we have a very good e-reputation and we are very proud of it, this is our very first priority and we will keep on providing the best service to our guests. We booked into this wonderful hotel with a view to stay one or two nights. My husband had a cardiac episode and had to go to hospital for 9 days. The staff were SO fabulous to me. Treating me like family the whole time. I just cant thank them enough. The room was always clean and tidy for me getting back from a long day at the hospital. And, yes they were there waiting for me to offer tea or coffee... Bless there hearts. This hotel needs to have 10 ***s
A typical small French hotel in a good location representing reasonable value for money. The staff were welcoming and helpful and the breakfast good. Unfortunately our room's shower was blocked and remained so during our one night stay, despite the attempts by staff to rectify it. Otherwise, everything was satisfactory.
This is a moderately priced small hotel in Downtown Angers. It is near to the cathedral, restaurants and the car park is just 50 metres away. Our room was very small, no air-con and too noisy outside to have the windows open. Our booking was for an overnight stay en route to the south of France which made it ok until we noticed quite a few hairs on the bathroom floor - Not ok! As the concierge had been so friendly and helpful re. restaurants and parking, we decided not to complain. After all, we were only staying 1 night. The bed was comfortable and the room overall was clean. We didn't stay for breakfast.
The hotel looked quite bland in the pictures, but was actually a very good deal. Room did not have aircon but a fan helped. Service was excellent, the young man at the reception helped us a great deal. Breakfast was enough for us bikers to survive on and they had safe bike storage. The chateau and cathedral (beautiful rose windows!) are close enough to walk to.
