Stayed two nights here.Pros are good location, parking, quiet, free wifi, plenty of hot water and room warm.Cons....Loo seat falling off, bath hand grab coming off, bed not made next morning, poor quality bedding, dusty room.Access to our room was up some uneven stone steps, mobility could be a problem for some people.In uk this place would not meet our...

How many chances will you ever have to spend the night in a 13th century chateau? Who cares if it's under construction. We stayed here for one night, sleeping in the Guards' Room, and while it did not offer all of the conveniences of a hotel, thoroughly enjoyed it. "Quirky" is an over-used word, but not here. This fortified Manor House was bought quite some years ago by a couple who have since battled to save it from ruin. They are succeeding, but slowly. So you wander round a collection of beautiful but semi-decrepit buildings which any English Health and Safety advisor would instantly condemn. Some of the rooms...

An extraordinary building and a fascinating place to stay. A couple took on the renovation of this moated chateau in the 80s and the work continues.
