Surgeres, France62 contributions14 helpful votes
I have stayed at this hotel before during normal times however this last week staying there 6 nights was dreadful. It is not the place to be for comfort and catering during Lockdown from 7.00 pm to 7.00am. I have been isolated at home in Surgeres since March 2020 with very little contact other than necessary however I accepted an invitation from the IUT Le Havre to be a visiting teacher on the proviso that I had a secure Covid friendly classroom and similar for my accommodation allowing me to isolate in my room in the evenings. I called the Nomad and asked was I able to get dinner and was told yes. I should have been told then, no chef and microwaved food! On arrival my room was as usual with things like tea and coffee making removed which I understand however when this is normally included! In your room price, to get a cup of coffee or tea was at reception and you were charged each time - money making! On check in I was given a breakfast sheet and asked to complete and bring back to reception and then come and collect breakfast from the bar area each morning which was o.k. However I don’t understand that the staff can go up and down in the customer lift, of which there are two , to collect dirty trays that have been left outside bedrooms? Surely when setting up trays that have been sterilised and meet covid standards it would be better for the staff to deliver and less chance of contamination than collecting dirty trays which have been touched by 1/2 or more people whilst they eat........ and get the guests to return the trays? On check in they also gave me a menu printed in English that was available for the week which turned out to be an unappetising, microwaved pot of a rice based dish, no salad or vegetable accompaniment. I ordered the first night ( pic ATTACHED) a pork dish which I had to collect from reception, it was Luke warm, pretty dangerous with rice base and not very appealing . A number of dishes on the menu were unavailable. Night two I decided to order a salmon tart, pic attached. Pastry uncooked on the base and very bland, no salad or accompaniment. The rest of the week I went shopping and had salad picnics in my room. Very unpleasant experience! There is a picture of the lounge attached which is marked off due to covid which housed lots of easy/ comfortable chairs. Surely knowing that people are locked down in their rooms it would be easy to put at least one easy chair in the room. The rooms have one hard small wooden stool and a small desk so the only place to sit was the BED .... this is totally unacceptable for 6 nights!!! On check out I looked at the area where you can collect food to see a menu (picture attached) that no one told me which apparently became available sometime during the week....... Pictures attached: Bedroom Lack of comfort Dinner choices Picnic supermarket purchases Lounge with chairs not being used Menu board Get you act together hotel management! This is not good enough. As I have said I have stayed during normal times and it was fine, staff are very nice. Veronique when I checked out was excellent and understood my comments and didn’t charge me for the first two awful snacks! She also told me that they were waiting to hear from senior management about easy chairs being put in rooms as they have had so many complaints! If you can’t supply decent, cooked dinners then don’t supply! so guests know what to expect. An Awful experience, an awful weeks stay and FED up with SALAD It would be acceptable for a night however not for a week!

Clever concept room with a projector for a tv, an iPad to control it and also to control other things like lighting and where you can see your water consumption (you can get money off if you decide to opt out of using certain services or limit your consumption). There were international channels, I was quite pleased to find BBC2 and BBC2 after a year living in France. The shower was cool with different lighting options and also you could pick from 3 different styles of showers waterfall, horizontal and the standard diagonal off the wall. Fun experience to have whilst we are under the national 6pm curfew

Hello geertverhaeghe and thank you for taking the time to share your experience :) It's a real pleasure to see that you loved the NOMAD Hotel concept and especially its ecology based aspect! You can indeed choose to remove certain options such as cleaning the room or changing the sheets in order to save a few euros on your stay ;) We would be delighted to welcome you again soon for an even more satisfying stay! New rooms, eco, with all comfort. Staff very helpful. Location. Particular the television projector, very innovative and stylish. Not impressed about the shower, open on the room, it gives space but there is no separation.

An awesome shower and some neat technology stuff in the room. The room was a bit smaller than expected. With covid 19 there wasn't a buffet as breakfast and the portions we got instead weren't really enough for us.
