#3 of 31 hotels in Honfleur
Travellers' Choice
More than a century after being frequented by impressionist painters seeking inspiration from the magic light of the Côte Fleurie, the Ferme Saint Siméon still seems to still be nourished by tender nostalgia. Perched on the heights of Honfleur, this Normand-style building infused with the soul of yesteryear delicately embraces modern refinement. Facing the Seine river estuary, the rooms full of noble furniture, woodwork, luxurious fabrics, comfort and colours are spread like flower bouquets across the farm, the central building and the ‘Press’.Beneath the garden’s apple trees or in the refined decor of the gastronomic restaurant, guests will be delighted to discover the regional cuisine, after indulging in a relaxing treatment at the Spa, peacefully overlooking the sea. La Ferme Saint Siméon is a member of the Collection Saint-Siméon.

During these covid affected times it was very enjoyable to visit this hotel where all stuff was super attentive and the quality of room service, amenities and attention to hygiene let you forget that there is still covid around for a bit.

We stayed here two nights in a Junior Suite. The hotel is very special with a wonderful history and the public areas are very atmospheric. For what it’s worth we actually concluded that this ‘Ferme’ would be better to stay at in winter when the fireplaces are lit and the dark wood decoration would be more in character. Service was actually very good albeit as others have observed it could be a little more attentive and warm. Restaurant prices are very high with starters in the main restaurant at €60+ and mains about €80. This is without a Michelin Star. Wine prices are about a 4 times mark up. We reckoned prices in the bistro were about €10 higher than they should be. The room photos (20) were a bit misleading with the website showing a bright room with beige furniture. Our furniture was grey with grey walls but we were told the furniture had all been changed because of a guest setting fire to them. Someone also mentioned flooding but I don’t know how true that is although there was a lot of noise of furniture being above us during our stay and workmen all over the place including on the roof. The shower was actually unacceptable especially given this is a R & C property. The overhead shower was only a trickle with no pressure at all; the hand shower had good pressure but went from cold to hot meaning that you were freezing or burning. We complained twice but they were unable to fix this. The spa/pool/gym wasn’t open due to renovation/Covid but the hotel apparently has reduced room prices by 30% to take account of this. Whilst the mini bar is free (very limited soft drinks and beer) there were no fruit, chocolates etc. in the room. A bit mean I thought. Relais & Chateaux used to have a loyalty programme called 5C but they dropped that a couple of years ago. However you can still be a member but it is totally unclear what benefits that brings anymore. Their programme is outshone by Leafing Hotels (LHW). Overall we liked the hotel very much but for around £1,000 per night (including wine) we expected more. It would be good to see the hotel at its best.

Dear Mister Simon, We thank you for this comment, which you took the time to write. As has been pointed out to you, some pieces of furniture have had to be changed because of cigarette burns, and it can be said, by the way, that the room has really gained in comfort. On your departure, you thanked the member of the management, whom you met, expressing your satisfaction with the stay, the good meals you had taken, and thanking him for the attentions you had received. So I will retain this satisfaction. As for the gourmet restaurant, you said you enjoyed your meals. The prices of our starters and our dishes vary between 54 and 70 euros. It is a gourmet restaurant, and whether it is a Michelin star or not has no impact on prices. Only the high quality and nobility of the products offered count. As far as you are concerned, the price of 850 euros, including half board without choice restriction, (room, breakfast and dinners), in one of the most beautiful suites of our house, seems to me appropriate in the luxurious setting of our Relais & Châteaux. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you one more time in our establishment, perhaps at the occasion to make you discover our brand new Spa, which will certainly be one of the most beautiful in its category. With our very best regards.

Spent three nights and enjoyed the warm welcome, peaceful garden and delicious food. Every member of staff was professional, attentive and courteous. Thank you to Celine, Christophe and Patricia for their care. The highlight of our stay were the massages with Patricia (French champion of massage 2019). The massage experience was the cherry on top: heated bed, aromatherapy, natural ingredients and the most relaxing massage technique and pressure. I left both massages feeling zen. We can’t wait to come back!

We have been here four times. This time rather less good than past. Small room, no aircon (to be fair generally unnecessary in Normandy) and the swimming pool being refurbished (for which we got a discount). Helpful staff. Restaurant gastronomique expensive but high standard. There is also a bistrot.

Dear Madam, Thank you for taking the time to write this comment, following your visit to our establishment. We regret that you did not enjoy this last stay as the previous ones. However, great efforts have been made to improve the quality of services, especially at the breakfast buffet. Also at the bar, where our new barman has joined our team, he is the French champion in his field, and presents high quality cocktails. Air conditioning is only possible in the more recent part of our establishment, but it is not possible to install it in the part that dates from the 17th century. We hope to see you again in our house. Perhaps when our brand new spa, beautifully renovated, can reopen its doors. Quite sincerely.

Dear Sir, Thank you very much for your kind comment, which describes well the situation of our establishment. Less than 10 minutes walk from the historic center of the city. To take the time to discover the museums, the old streets and the beautiful buildings, which made Honfleur one of the most beautiful cities in France. And then, near, the discovery of the Landing Beaches, the various sites of the Second World War. To be added, of course, castles, gardens, and unforgettable landscapes of beauty. Everything is gathered here, in our beautiful Normandy, for an exceptional stay.
