I am regular visitor of Mercure hotels and in general I am quite satisfied with their service. This time it was different. First about the room. I often book privilege rooms as they are normally bigger, located in a more quiet part of the hotel, and offer more comfort. This must have been the smallest privilege room I every stayed in (and probably for the highest price) : It did not measure 20 sqm, and probably did not differ in any respect from a classic room (there was not ‘privilege’ sign on the door either, as is normally the case). Second about services. Under the pretext/excuse of covid-19, all service were reduced to a minimum : only breakfast in the room, no bar, no restaurant (although I did not really care about the latter). Serving breakfast in the room is OK is you have the space to eat it, but that was not really the case (as mentioned earlier). But what you get is obviously less varied than in a buffet format, but they still charge the same price... What was really bad was the fact that they charge 9,4 € for a glass of wine, that definitely came from a bottle that was already open for at least 2 days. Shame on you, Mercure ! Oh yeah, I almost forget. As a Silver member, you are normally spontaneously offered a welcome drink (as the Accor club policy foresees it) ; here you have to ask for it.

Mercure was our start and finish to every day of our tour of Normandy. While it was a good bus ride each day to our sightseeing itinerary (the beaches, Giverny, Honfleur, Mont Saint Michel, etc), the location provided us a scenic and delightful community to meander about and a wide range of excellent restaurants at a reasonable price. The rooms are small and varied, many with very narrow balconies, mine had a view of the yacht club, for which I was quite grateful. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms well appointed. The hotel staff were quick to make us most comfortable and provide us access to whatever we might need. Wish I could take the shower home with me. Oddly, there is no shower door separating the shower from the toilet and sink, but rather a glass wall that merely spanned half of the shower opening. Once I figured out how not to flood the entire bathroom (tip: turn the nozzle to the wall and shower with the handheld with your back to the wall), I never wanted to leave it. Wish I had water pressure at home like my shower at the Hotel Mercure!

This hotel is ideally located in Deauville and a very short walk to Touville. Restaurants, shops, the marina and the beach are all easily accessible. The breakfast is very good with many selections (albeit the scrambled eggs were quite runny). The staff was helpful and pleasant, especially "Beatrice" at the front desk. Rooms were a decent size and very clean.

We stayed here for 3 nights in a duplex room at the beginning of August. We had a family of two children and two adults. The room was great as it had an upstairs, two bathrooms, two TVs and was very clean. Staff were helpful. I did not realise you had to contact ahead of your stay to pre-book parking in their car park for €11 per night, but reception helpfully directed us to where onstreet free parking could be found, which was only a short walk. We had breakfast only once at the hotel which was ok, kids ate free with adults. Purchasing breakfast onsite was actually cheaper than including it in the prepaid nightly rate. Good location for exploring Deauville. Lovely market in the square round the corner every morning. Would definitely book again.

Deauville is an upmarket resort, so you expect to pay a premium for a hotel. However, even by that barometer, the classic room was very compact. No extras, just functional. Hotel bar is about the only facility, plus breakfast which I didn't have as I do not like pastries/croissants. Lack of information in the room about anything, staff not full of information either. I had been to Deauville before and to this hotel, so I didn't need guiding but even so. Possibly in future trips to Deauville I will pay a bit more for more facilities and individuality. Or stay across the bridge in Trouville and get a lot more for the same price maybe.
