Room was clean, even in center it was calm, I didn't try the breakfast and someone told me it was very simplistic. No food at the hotel, only re-warmed "glass-can" but ok if you do not mind to pay a high price for a small meal. No real bar, possibility to have a drink but I

We arrived far too early, having got off the overnight ferry. We were offered access to our room straight away, at no extra charge, which meant we could catch up on our missed sleep. The room was comfortable, the staff always pleasant. And right now, late afternoon, we are

We made a last minute booking having little time to shop around for various hotels. The location is excellent with a public car park right in front of the hotel and the shopping area right next to the hotel. We picked their supposedly " best" room. The room was very small and

What a delight to learn that the gracious host is also the owner. She and her staff are so friendly and welcoming. The decor is beautiful and historic. It feels like a boutique hotel full of charm and ambience Only drawback is the construction happening out front across from

Hi Yes, there is a lift to all floors. Our room had a view of the square but the shower was in the bath. The room we had was fairly spacious.

We were very happy with the Royal Hotel and walked all over the city. We are in our late 60s but love to walk. I don't have any comment on room choice; we took what they gave us which overlooked the street. It was not noisy when we were there, but it was cool at night and not the weekend. If you have luggage, I would recommend getting a cab to the hotel. It is a walk-able distance but city streets are not easy with luggage even with wheels. We booked our tours through the local tourist office after we arrived. The Peace Museum is fantastic and we took the city bus to get there. We took the tour offered through the Museum to go to the beaches and the cemetery. Otherwise, Caen is a very walk-able city with a lot to see. We also took the train to Bayeux to see the Tapestry and other sights. Renting a car to go on your own to see the beaches and to have more time is another option. After 3 days in Caen, we rented a car and went back to the cemetery and to one of the other beaches as we left to go further on our trip.
