The hotel is in a good location not far from the port, a laundromat and most of the attractions the town has. This appears to be a safe area with parking for your car across the road. The staff were all friendly & helpful. We dropped our bags in and headed off to do some sightseeing. The room was small... More

Being so cheap I thought it would be a little grotty, but to my surprise it was lovely. Don't let the reception put you off. My husband and I stayed in a really cute bedroom with a massive ensuite. The owner waited up for us and gave us a code to get back if needed. The facilities are basic but... More

Really friendly, warm and welcoming receptionists. They let us keep our bikes in their reception overnight rather than leaving them outside. Room was clean with a comfy bed and strong hot shower. Location is excellent. Very good value for money, and will return again if in Caen.

Location is good, 20 minutes walking from the train station. Many bars and restaurants around. Good wifi. Good place for exploring D-Day Beaches. Bad points no lift, my room was in 3th floor. Reception is not 24 hours, and they provide a key card. One day the Key Card stop to work, I was luck that was during the day,... More

No frills here but at €49 a night you can't complain. Helpful reception guy who gave me a map and will lend you a hair dryer. Room is small and bathroom needs some refurbishment. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Amused by unique bathroom feature of painted tiles. Area is noisy but double glazed window was highly effective. Great location... More

This hotel is very affordable, close to the transport and attractions, and has good facilities. The breakfast is good value. The rooms are clean, comfortable and average sized. The staff are helpful but of varying levels of friendliness. Restaurants, take-away shops and a Carrefour supermarket are in walking distance. I had a pleasant stay and would stay there again.

I was in Paris and decided to take a two day trip to Normandy to visit the World War 2 sights. I found this hotel online, read the reviews and booked an overnight stay. It turned out to be a terrific choice. The hotel is located just a block or two from the Castle that overlooks the whole city, and... More

I walked from the train station to the hotel--a 15-min walk normally--but my lousy sense of direction meant it took me an hour. I was pleasantly surprised to come along side a waterway with sail boats and cobblestoned streets and recognize Hotel l'Universe. Charming and my hotel looked down on this view. My room was on the 4th floor which... More

comfortable hotel in a great location right next to the marketplace car park and bars, restaurants etc. Our room was basic but had everything we needed for a short stay. Very well priced. One massive word of warning - the car park opposite is used for the market every Sunday and cars left overnight will be towed away. I parked... More

What a great little small hotel. Close to the centre, overlooking the quay with a public car park opposite, free overnight. We were upgraded as the hotel was empty, so got a smart corner room with full length French windows and Juliet balconies. Well maintained and smart small hotel with reasonable size room and pleasant breakfast room, all for the... More
