I spent one night in a double for single use at the Hotel Victor Hugo in May. The staff were knowledgable and very helpful. As examples, English-speaking staff were able to direct me to a nearby internet café and a store that sold an item I needed, and they made space available to me to change my clothes long after... This hotel is on a pleasant tree lined boulevard at the edge of the old town. Double glazing can prevent the sound of traffic and late night parties from entering your room. Rooms are smallish, but quite comfortable, although a fridge is something I really missed. Breakfast is a bit expensive for what is on offer.

This very reasonably priced 2 star, right in the middle of town, is in many ways better than others with 3 or 4 stars. The rooms are small and basic, but the beds very comfy, good crisp cotton sheets, very effective air con and clean, efficient little shower room. Everything well thought out. Nice staff too. Would definitely stay here... More

We stayed one night only (by choice). A small luggage is tough to fit! See attached picture to see how cramped it was. (The lobby is very nice, but do not let that fool you.) While the decor is outdated, the room was clean, very well located (Place Victor Hugo was literally 45 secs away) and well sound-proof (the room... More

Reception very informative concerning the city of Toulouse. Lovely brekfast and plenty of fresh fruit, cheese, ham and selection of all cereals. Orange juice Grape juice. Fresh bread and lovely croissants. (they were only out of the oven each morning) Nothing appeared to be a problem for any of the staff we met. Rooms exceptionally clean and cosy. It is obvious cleaniness... More

Let's start with the mono-pillow? Who invented a 5 foot wide pillow? What hotel chooses to buy these things? Are individual pillows so dear? That was a mere annoyance. The place was perfectly fine as a hotel, just not deserving of the glowing reviews it has received. Decent value (we paid 65 euros through this site). The funny/frustrating part of... More

Stayed for over a week, the hotel is right in the middle of the main hotel/restaurant area. New York-proportion rooms, but for the price and location there's nothing to beat it. Very well run, French/family owned hotel. Have stayed in similar type hotels in the area, will cost 20-30 more while the chains will be double. Only a few metres... More

A nice small hotel which served us a perfect base for a few days' visit of Toulouse and nearby cities (we've been to Albi). Rooms are tiny but clean and the overall impression from the hotel is better than its two-star category. The location is very good: the old city starts across the street, and there is a convenient connection... More

The Victor Hugo in Toulouse is one of the best budget options in a city with just a few four star hotels and dozens of one and two stars. The Victor Hugo ranks about a 3 when compared to the others in it's class. The rooms are clean-the beds are clean and soft enough that you don't feel you are... More
