What a surprise arrive to the hotel and found the door of our room opened (I attached photo), I use to travel a lot during the year due to my job and this happened to me the first time in my life. Fortunately nothing of our belongings were stolen. As the receptionist requested, I sended him the photo taken by me of the door, but without explanations or apologies more than "the cleaning company is external to B&B hotels". 4 days ago, we still not receipt any explanation or apology from the hotel company. Our first experience with B&B hotels and also the last one.
We have stayed in many B & B's throughout France, Nimes Central is ideally situated and within easy walking distance for some of the historic sites and very nice restaurants. The surrounding area may not be that pleasant but a few minutes walk takes you away from that part of town. The hotel is a little tired and in need of a little TLC but on the positive side the rooms were clean and with the usual B&B furnishings. The hotel comes with a Warning, be prepared. We always understand that language can be problematic, usually part of the holiday experience. We were not prepared for the unfriendly and unhelpful reception we received. Reception is closed from 11.00 to 17.00, not a problem with check in as there is the usual self check in machines. It became a very different situation as we travelled by car and arrived at 16.00. The hotel has 11 underground parking spaces for over 70 rooms and only small cars can be accommodated (we have a Honda Accord) which was too long. The alternative is street parking which is expensive long term and comes with the usual risks of break ins. The brochure does warn of limited secure parking but not limited size. You require a separate code to access the car park which can only be obtained from reception if your lucky enough to find them available. Overall we found this to be the most unfriendly and inconvenient B&B we have ever stayed in...….never again.…
After a hot walk from the station and then some mix-up with Hotels.com booking I got into a room with crisp clean white sheets and air con. It felt like 5*. The limited English of the reception staff could be a problem for those that don't speak French and the location is probably a bit far from the centre of town for a comfortable late night stroll. Good for couples looking for a budget room. Breakfast OK and cheap.
OK hotel as expected for a night. clean/standard rooms no complaints. Receptionist was friendly and she gave us a higher up room which was nice of her. There is limited parking on site and you may have to use an underground parking for a night for around 20 € as I would not leave my car full on the streets around the hotel which was a bummer.. the walk into town is not that tedious only 10 mins but I suggest you go along the main boulevard instead of the direct route as its much nicer and has a safer feel to it. Only about a 2 min deviation. If yr passing Nimes then this is OK for a stop.
We arrived and I was totally confused with the electronic check in. There is a button you can get to get assistance from Paris however this assistance cannot help with the on site secure parking. Frustrating. I booked through booking.com and did not have the appropriate code for check in, again frustrating. Finally after getting my hubby to find a car park I went back and thank goodness there was someone at the check in counter to help with the parking, The room was very clean and gphad a great shower.
