We stayed at this hostel after reading a review of the best hostels in the world and Carcassone's ranked high (top 10, I think?) The location is top notch if you are there because of the walled city. You can enjoy the walls and towers in the evenings after the hordes have left, and again in the mornings before the...

I'm sure this hostel is crammed to capacity during the main visitor season, so choose your time with care and have a great stay. A perfect location in the medieval walled city, world-class heritage right on the doorstep, and a set of very helpful staff who keep the place running smoothly. Hostelling doesn't get much better than this, if you're...

You can't find a better deal in Carcassonne. Located right in the old city, it's easy to find and well suited for enjoying Carcassonne into the night. The breakfast is quality and the staff is friendly. Solid WiFi, comfy beds and well priced. If you're spending the night in Carcassonne and don't want to break the bank, this is your...

If you want to visit Carcassone I advice you to book a night at the YH: in the centre of the historical town, in the evening Carcassone is much nicer to visit and in the morning you're one of the first at the entrance of the museum. The YH has very friendly staff. One guy is polyglot and speaks a...

This hostel is certainly in an ideal location: right in the heart of the Medieval City. It is perfect for spending an entire night in Carcassonne and getting out at all times of the evening for the changing atmosphere and views. Whilst the facilities are fairly basic (every room has a shower and sinks but there are not enough toilets)...

Right in the heart of the old cite - a perfect location for the romantic late night strolls. The hostel itself is clean, and modern without being spectacular. It is the location which makes all the difference. Fantastic place!

We had a private double room with our own shower. It's important to realise this does not mean you also have your own toilet - you need to share the toilet and for us, it was about 20 paces or so away. It was always clean, though the toilets didn't have seats (dunno why). The room was comfortable, the bunk...

Located right inside the old cite, this hostel is great for experiencing Carcassonne after dark when you can really take in all it's fantastic atmosphere without the tourists. If you have a car, you can also park inside the outer walls free of charge which is a big advantage in the summer months. The staff here are really warm and...

Carcassonne is seemingly not very busy in the colder months, which can make it a good time to visit, especially if, like me, you hope to get landscape/architecture shots without many people in them. My weekend visit found the Saturday quite windy and the Sunday (I left around noon) calm. The youth hostel was quite welcoming and stored my small...

One shared toilet for whole floor wasn't ideal with shower in room instead. It has lockers, laundry, table tennis, patio, kitchen and best youth hostel breakfast I've ever had: all the normal stuff plus yoghurt, cake and baked apples with cinnamon - yum!!! All the staff I met were exceptionally friendly and it's location couldn't be better. Would recommend.
