This is a very basic hotel with shared toilets (I believe there were three toilets per floor), mismatched furniture that seem to come from someone's trash. Granted someone's trash is another persons' treasure but I doubt this applies to the hotel. I would not say the hotel was dirty but the worm out furniture does give one such impression. A...

Was pleasantly surprised with the quality of our room considering the price we paid for it. Paris is an expensive city, so to get a large room with a balcony and a shower, in a clean and great neighborhood was a surprise to me. We had excellent service while staying here. Comfortable beds, it was a little noisy from the...

What we liked: - The location, right in front the Luxembourg Gardens. What we liked less: - Dirty, dirty, dirty room - Flat pillows - Very hard bed. Felt like we were sleeping on the floor. - Transparent plastic cubicle shower. A plus size person would not fit in it. - Only 3 soap sachets for 2 people for 2...

The location is great and the room itself quite comfortable. The property does not offer parking despite advertising it on their website. Parking on the streets nearby was also very hard to find. When I emailed asking to confirm it was available they referred me to a nearby garage for €30/24 hours and I was very rudely told that I...

Well, the price is quite low, worthy for a stay in Paris where other places are generally with high price. Although the room is a bit small, I think the owner had tried the best to make the room as comfortable as possible. The location is fine, not too far to walk to Notre Dame and Louvre. Nothing to complain...

Bit of a language barrier on checking in but all friendly and worked it out. The place is fine and clean and we knew there was no room toilet before booking. It worked out of but the single communal shared toilet at the end of the corridor although always clean was very small. The best thing about the place was...

My husband and I stayed here because of the location and price. We wanted something cheap. Great location! First two nights we were given a three person room when we paid for a two person room, on the top floor and thankfully we had a private toilet and shower. Decent sized room, very basic and very hard bed with one...

We were staying here three nights as a good base for exploring Paris. Besides disinterested staff, you get a shared toilet, hard beds and to listen to all the talks of your fellow travellers in the other rooms. A shower was in our room and the rooms furnishment was rather sparse (which made the room spacious). However, when travelling to...

The hotel is in an excellent location - right opposite the Jardin du Luxembourg, and a five minute walk from Metro tube station. It is also within walking distance of a number of good restaurants and bars. The room itself was decent, pretty big considering the price. However, the shower is tiny, and seems to have been built for a...

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
