The only good thing i have to say about this hotel is that it stands in a great location...Now here's the point of my review...When we came in the room we were astonished but the condition of the room...The bed cover and the towells were torn and dirty. There were no pillow-slip and the pillow itself was covered with slaver. The shower smelled musty and some paint had fallen from the ceiling. It is too dark and but with the cleanliness of the room that is no surprise...I might add tought that the lady at the desk was kind and has nothing to do with the condition of the room... We took our things and search for another hotel...

We stayed at the Hotel de Rouen in April 2003. Initially, we were a bit concerned with how the hotel would be like since the rates were very low for Paris. However, we were pleasantly surprised. We stayed in a room with a washroom (shower & toilet) that overlooked the National Bank across the street. The room was decently clean (I wouldn't eat off the carpet but we didn't see any bugs crawling around) and very simple. We speak a little bit of "high school" French and were able to communicate with the staff (which we thought were friendly enough) no problem. The hotel was within walking distance of the Louvre and minutes away from a Metro station which will get you to all the sites. The neighbour seemed safe as we didn't have any concerns walking back from the metro…

We stayed at Hotel de Rouen in October 2003. It was centrally located and in a fairly quiet area. The hotel is good for the price - no frills, clean, comfortable, convenient, particularly if you're there just to sleep. We had a room with a double bed and single bed, ensuite with the a view of the 'courtyard' (which was just a vertical tunnel!) for 55 Euros. They didn't have room with two beds facing the street. A narrow spiral staircase leads you from the street level to your room, so avoid bringing large suitcases. The metro is a 5 minute walk away. There is a cafe next door for a convenient breakfast and several cafes within a stone's throw for meals.

I stayed at the Hotel de Rouen in the summer of 2003. At first I was horrified. The room had a view of heating vents and trash and was dirty when I arrived. However, I asked to be moved to a room "qui donne sur la rue" (with a view of the street), and was promptly changed with no further ado. MUCH BETTER. Awesome location, unbeatable price. But make sure you ask for a room that "donne sur la rue." I'm staying there again this summer!

I am going to give a review because I found this site very helpful when researching hotels. This hotel is very cheap and ideally located within walking distance of most of the attractions in Paris. There is also a small grocery store around the corner (take a right out of the front door and take a right and the next road) that sells most everything and both clerks we saw spoke English. We stayed 3 nights in a room on the 4th floor with a shower and double bed ($40 EUR). The room was very small, but we only used it for sleeping and didn't need much room. However, the floor space was a little cramped with just our two backpacks. This was our first trip to Europe, so it may be customary there, but they did not just automatically give you clean towels so we did ask for clean…

I stayed here for 5 nights in April 2004. It's in a great location (5 mins walk north of the Louvre) and it's very cheap. The downside is that it's a bit run down & badly in need of a lick of paint, but if you're just looking for somewhere cheap & central to rest your head for the night it'll do fine. The rooms while not exactly 5 star stuff are OK with clean sheets & floors. I left it a bit late to book & had to change rooms twice (though, that's not the fault of the hotel), so I got to check out all the room types they have on offer. Cheapest is the single room without shower or toilet for €25 a night. Excellent value & there's a toilet on every floor & (I think) a shower on most. Since there are only a 5 or 6 rooms on each floor, I never had to wait for them to be free…
