The hotel is best described as quirky but comfortable. Owned by the same family for three generations, rooms have been upgraded to the best that the original configurations would allow. Eg I have never before used a wardrobe that was built into the balcony window....glass fully intact! It's sunny outlook certainly dried the clothes quickly! We found all front desk staff...

The location of this hotel was very convenient as it is close to Notre Dame, major metro line direct to the CDG airport and eurail station without needing a transfer. Also, there are lots of restaurants nearby and quite lively latin quarter. the hotel itself is in a quieter spot, so was nice. The staff is bilingual and very helpful....

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Marignan. The staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our hike up the staircase (no elevator) to our well appointed room on the 6eme etage, thinking it was helpful for digesting some of the delicious, but expensive meals we had while in Paris. This is a great place for budget minded travelers, and...

I travel alone often and as a female I look for a cheap, safe, sufficient hotel. Hotel Marignan is great! Its not a fancy hotel but excellent for the price and location! In the Latin Quarter near wonder restaurants, close to the metro and many museums. The cheap single rate of 72 euro included tax & breakfast! The breakfast isn't...

This was the second time we have used this hotel, it has always been enjoyable! Very friendly staff, offer a lot of wisdom for tourists trying to find their way around. Like their website states, they have nice freebies as well. The walls are a bit thin and there are many stairs, but for us it was no problem. Would...

Our group of five stayed two nights in a quint room on the third floor. As expected, the room was small and packed with five beds and a toilet. We were shocked at the closeness upon first viewing, however, It worked out very well for us. The beds were comfortable and clean and shower in the hall had plenty of...

As per the title, this hotel is very basic. Therefore, you won't find much in the amenities department. What you will find, however, is a satisfactory, functional hotel in an excellent location. Upon arrival at the hotel, the English speaking staff greeted me and my family with smiling faces. They also offered us a map of Paris with popular tourist attractions...

Found this hotel online, our stay was lovely. Service was friendly and helpful, with great tourist tips, and the location was excellent. Breakfast was standard, fairly good but nothing special. Overall it was excellent value for the price, would recommend.

We stayed at Hotel Marignan as our first stop of our European adventure based on recommendations from a friend. The first thing to be said about this accomodation is that it basic. That being said it is comfortable, clean, affordable and in a top spot and what more could you ask for in the very expensive city of Paris. After...

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
