If you want a true Parisian hotel experience and avoid the cookie-cutter approach, this may be the hotel for you. Warmly greeted by an English speaking receptionist, we were able to securely store our baggage until the room was ready, thus enabling us to hit the pavement and start touring right away. We booked a deluxe superior room that was clean, comfortable, and with enough elbow room to move around in. We did have some street noise, but our ear plugs remedied any significant problems. Most importantly: everything worked, including robust a/c. Do not expect a large, ornate lobby, large breakfast area, or average sized elevator. All are quite small. In fact, you can have breakfast delivered to you room at no extra charge, I suspect, due to the small size of the breakfast room. Speaking of breakfast, you can have eggs to order, a side meat, coffee, juice, and delicious breads that only the French know how to make. The location was perfect for us. Several sights were in walking distance and with the Odeon metro a few minutes away, all of Paris was at our footstep. Additionally, dozens of restaurants were within a few blocks. Should we return to Paris anytime soon, we will happily stay at the Le Regent.

Location of course is fantastic and this hotel offers a free breakfast that was a great way to start each day. Unfortunately after a night out with my husband on our first night, the evening clerk stopped us at the front desk on our way in and scolded us for taking our room key with us. We had not been told it was custom to leave the key and instead of telling us to please leave the key next time he got into an argument with us and continued to yell at us saying “if you lost the key what would we do, we have no way to replace it.” I posted a review that evening expressing how I felt, and how disappointed I was that my first night in Paris ended by the clerks bad attitude. The next day, a different receptionist stopped me to say that she had read my review and wanted more details on the situation which I gave her. She said it wasn’t a big problem to leave the keys or not which is why we weren’t told to do so and that they had problems with this evening clerk previously. Still, no apology for his behavior or anyone asking how they can make it right. On top of this, that next night on our way out of the hotel for the evening, we were stopped by the same evening clerk again who had clearly heard of our bad review. He harassed us as we were leaving the hotel and I felt so extremely uncomfortable leaving him our room key, we almost didn’t leave the hotel that night. We spent the rest of the night saying we didn’t want to go back and deal with him. Worried by what he might do or say. This hotel was nice, but unfortunately this is the SERVICE industry and we are the clients paying per night. To treat your guests in this way is simply uncalled for. Finally, when we checked out, a different receptionist apologized for everything and sent us on our way. We were glad to be leaving this hotel, not Paris of course. There are many many hotels around the area. Read a few more reviews which I also noticed a few had written about poor service and front desk employees being rude, and make your own judgment. Unfortunately for us, service means a lot to us and can sometimes make or break the experience. We will not be staying here again nor will our friends and family.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your opinion and very sorry that you had a bad experience in our hotel. We are agree in what you write : " service means a lot to us" because it is the same for me and my staff. The service always received good review and the majority of customers are delighted with it. They are probably a misunderstanding with you and the night auditor and again, we are very sorry that. We are happy that you like the aera of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the hotel and the breakfast. Best regards.

Loved the location of this hotel and the decor. Stayed on the first floor just up the spiral staircase with a window over the internal courtyard that we could open for fresh air. Room was compact but expected that for Paris. The staff were very helpful and friendly and could stay here again if I were in Paris.

This hotel is situated in the heart of Saint Germain and it is one of my favorite quarters. When you go out there are plenty of good restaurants and bars, stores and lots of people. We had a room number 25 that was horrible! Extremely small had to walk over my suitcase in order to go from one side to the other. One window and a horrible bed. The bathroom was decent size though. My friends on the other hand, who paid the same amount, had a beautiful room number 42. Twice the size of ours, 4 windows with lots of light coming in because it was on the top floor. completely different experiences for us. Their bed was even comfortable. Thank goodness we were only there for 2 nights.

Dear Madam, Thank you for your opinion. We are so sorry that you did not like your room. Room n° 25 is a Standard room, it is a small room. After we do have bigger rooms in Deluxe and Superior categories. Your friends in room n° 42 were in a Deluxe one, and it is much bigger and confortable. Best regards.

We stayed at the hotel for four nights. First night was unexpected and the hotel had us with our two young kids on the same floor but separated by a number of rooms. That was fine. But, for the three following nights, we were supposed to have adjacent rooms as reserved by our travel agent months earlier. However, that never quite happened. The second night, we were put in a small room with no working air-conditioning. When we asked the front desk, they seem surprised it wasn’t working. However, we noted there was a fan in there. The next morning, it became clear they knew there was no working air-conditioning in that room - hence the pre-existing fan. We complained that not only about the lack of air conditioning but also that both small rooms overlooked “poubelle” (french word for garbage). See pictures. The next morning, the manager came out and got incredibly defensive. Accused me of calling her hotel garbage. I assured her I would never use such a term but she aggressively persisted. She then said she would find us a room with air conditioning. No apology ever issued. Later that day, we were told that we would be up on the top floor in one of their best rooms. That meant we were four floors separated from our children. We were supposed to be grateful for this “upgrade” when really all he wanted was a room with air conditioning next to our young children. So, for the remaining two nights, my husband and I split up and each took a room with one of the children. This was not exactly how we expected to spend our time in Paris. Traipsing up and down flights of stairs our waiting for the one tiny elevator. During our four night stay, we managed to stay in four different rooms. From my experience, we noted that the bathtubs were generally unclean, the shampoo containers affixed to the wall were either empty or barely filled and that the rooms are small (and the one we had on the 2nd floor did indeed look over garbage). The only saving grace for this hotel is location. It is We stayed at the hotel for four nights. Dear guest, Thank you for your opinion and are sorry that you had a bad experience. In few words, we will tell you that if you moove 4 times of rooms and were still dissatisfied, that is probably you choose the wrong hotel for your stay in Paris. We are a small charming with only 25 rooms all differents, we do have small and bigs rooms (you reserved small one), some are facing the courtyard and some Dauphine street. Sometime, we would also like to write review about guests. Best regards.

When we stayed there, the bathrooms were modern, in room, and relatively spacious for european standards. The actual rooms are smallish as you would expect.

To go to the Tour Eifell you can look at a map and then use Metro: Trocadero, líneas 6 y 9; Ecole militaire, línea 8. Autobús: líneas 42, 69, 72, 82 y 87. RER: Champ de Mars – Tour Eiffel, línea C. To go to Versailles, it is far, around 15km by train I cannot tell you exactly as I was with friends with a car....
