Nice location, quiet room, good service, original internal garden.

There is nothing overly fancy or lavish about the Castex. It's just a very clean, attractive, well-run hotel. After a long day of sightseeing, looking at art and walking and eating, I loved getting back there every night. I even hesitated to write this review for fear that it will get too popular, and I won't be able to get...

The Castex is small, tidy, and has character without being pretentious. The Castex, unbelievably, is on a quiet street just 2 blocks from the Bastille which is normally quite active with restaurants, cafes, shops, nightlife, and cars. The hotel is also on the edge of the Marais, so it's a short walk to the features in that area, too. The...

Nice hotel. Excellent location a few minutes walk from the metro station (Bastille). Breakfast was fine, but no chocolate croissants :( For the money you can get a better experience at one of the nearby cafes. Our room (on the top floor) was quite small, but clean, warm, and comfortable.

We arrived after 10PM and experienced one of the worst hotel gaffes - we were given a key to a room that was already occupied (by sleeping guests no less). The hotel staff did rectify the situation promptly and assigned us a new room. Best features of hotel: great location, on a quiet street, near Metro Bastille, 5 minutes walk...

We stayed for just two nights last December. Our party had three rooms. All rooms were clean and comfortable with newly remoddeled bathrooms. The number 3 is at the back up one flight of stairs, great if you want some quiet time in busy Paris. Nice breakfast (much more than just your croisant and coffee) buffet for 10 euro. Patrick...

I have stayed at the Hotel Castex perhaps a dozen times over the past 20 years and the welcome by the staff is always gracious. Marzana, Veronique, Martin and Gabriel are always helpful with directions, suggestions, etc. It's a great location - off the main streets (Rue St. Antoine/Rue de Rivoli) so it's quiet but within a block or two...

The Castex Hotel is charming and absolutely stunning! Rooms are full of character and are more comfortable than we expected; the beds and shower were better than mine at home! The only suggestions for improvement would be to have a bit more information available in the room about the area and directions, as well as an alarm clock. The breakfast...

This was a great find! Nice hotel in a great location at a very reasonable price. The hotel was clean and cozy, with impecccable service. The breakfast was good - baguettes, croissants, jams, cheese, fruit, cereal, juice, coffee, tea, and yogurts - plenty to get you started for a day of sightseeing. It normally costs 10Euro/day, but be sure to...

Le Marais is my favorite part of Paris, and I always try to stay there when I visit. That can be a challenge, as there are not many good, affordable hotels right in the Marais. My most recent Marais stay was at Hotel Castex, and I was very pleased with it. It's a solid three-star property with comfortable rooms, great...

Staying in Le Marais

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
