what kind of hotel has ear plugs next to their beds??? we arrived late at night to the hotel we checked in and went to our room, the room was tiny, there is no room for 2 people and the luggage. the noise the subway makes is very loud and makes it impossible to sleep there to that you have to add the noise the elevator makes every time it moves. we had such a terrible first night we decided to leave the hotel. we asked booking.com to get us a refund for the remaining 5 nights we were going to stay. booking.com was unable to refund us and the hotel has only one person working at the front desk and this person isn't informed on how to their job and doesn't speak 1 word of english. they were unable to help us. we emailed a manager of the hotel and they told us they were not going to refund even though we left our hotel. so we lost about $1750 at this terrible noisy with mediocre staff and tiny rooms. I have stayed in at least 16 different hotels in Paris and have never had this experience. i am still waiting for an acceptable answer from booking.com or the hotel.…
My husband and I have stayed here on three different trips to Paris, the most recent being in September, 2019. The location of this hotel is wonderful, within an easy walk to so many places in Paris. The rooms are charming and the bathrooms are up-to-date. The front desk is very helpful and made a number of hard to get restaurant reservations for us. If you want Parisian charm in a wonderful location, this is a great place to stay. We hope to be back as soon as the government allows us back one the virus is contained.
Pro : hotel location Cons : room looks dated, not very helpful front desk staff and quite a rude hotel manager. I accidentally left personal items in the room. When asking help from the hotel manager to retrieve these, he claimed i was lying.
This is a delightful hotel in central Paris, full of elegant charm and serene character. I stayed here for one night in mid June as a stop over between Barcelona and The Hague (train from Barcelona to Paris and then to the Hague via Brussels Midi the next day), mainly to catch up with a friend who lives locally (just across the road). With its rich bright tapestries, renaissance art works (paintings, vases and sculpture), Louis XVI and Regency furnishings and individually designed rooms, I felt as if I was staying in a small palace, an exquisitely regal find in central Paris. My room was charming with its exposed timber ceiling beams, it provided a medieval ambience combined with the comforts of contemporary living - a fine double bed, high pressure shower and air conditioning (which was needed given that there was a heat wave in Paris at the time of my overnight stay). The staff were wonderful, particularly Carlos on reception and his welcoming and professional colleagues in the dining room who provided the most delicious breakfast. I could have stayed there all morning. I had a problem with a potential double charge on my credit card the next day due to withdrawing my AMEX too quickly from the merchant terminal. Carlos was so kind and emailed immediately after I checked out to reassure me that there had been no double charge and only one transaction had been posted. It is that level of service that would make me return and stay again. The hotel is on the slightly expensive side, but Paris is costly. I suppose I noticed this because I was travelling all over Europe using the same Euro currency and noticed major variations in hotel and accomodation costs between countries, but I still feel as if this hotel represents good value. I definitely recommend Hotel Saint Germain des Pres, and would have been happy to stay for much longer than one night - two or three weeks would be ideal!…
Stayed for 3 nights, Room space is alright, lift so tiny Great location but the surprise was the staff , couldn’t believe how professional and helpful special thanks to Johnny the chef, Theo and Eric and the rest of the team .
The hotel Saint Germain des Prés is authentic and is situated in a surprisingly quiet neighborhood close to the Seine and the Île de Cité. The rooms have the original features like old tapestry, headboard and taps but don’t miss out on modern amenities like flat screen tv and water cooker with tea and coffee. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was not included but well worth the 12 €. We can highly recommend this hotel and would love stay there again. We featured this hotel on our blog greyworldnomads.
I just adore this hotel! I have stayed there several times over the years and will continue to do so. The staff are so kind and treat their guests like family (in the good way). I love the neighbourhood (Latin Quarter, Saint-German-des-Pres) and easy access to all of Paris. The guests are an interesting mix of well traveled folks from France, North America, Asia, and all over the world. Additional benefits are the good breakfasts and quiet rooms. This jewel of a hotel has become my Parisian pied-a-terre.
We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Saint Germain des Pres. Our room was on the top floor, which meant beams on the ceiling which needed to be avoided near the walls, but they added to the overall charm. The only criticism was the pillows were oddly lumpy and not comfortable. The front desk staff were very welcoming and helpful with making arrangements. We were surprised though that there was a separate charge for breakfast, which we discovered when we checked out. Our mistake for not being clear on that, and the food was good. The room price was on the higher end to begin with, and the breakfast charge didn't help. But the charm and wonderful people made up for it!
Quirky boutique hotel in great location, only minutes away from metro station at Saint German du Pres. Lots of bars and restaurants within a short stroll. My room was small but adequate for a short stay. Friendly, helpful staff.
When searching for accommodation for our brief 2 night stay in Paris at the end of a six-week trip to Europe - as part of the planning prior to the trip - we were pretty sure we'd found the right place when we came across the Saint Germain des Prés. When we arrived at the hotel several months after booking it, we knew we'd made the right choice. The location was excellent, with a huge variety of restaurants, cafés and shops very nearby. The famous Les Deux Magots is almost next door. The hotel had a real character to it that was quite different to what you'd find staying in one of the 'chain' places. Very French. You'll see what I mean if you check out the photos. Dominique at reception checked us in, and was a wonderful lady - very helpful and quite the character. We enjoyed the breakfast in their breakfast room. We would highly recommend both the hotel and the St Germain des Prés district.…
