We stayed here for 2 nights with my girlfriend in September. The hotel is very nice with very friendly staff and grants a top location right next to the Musèe D'Orsay and Saint Germain. You will have the chance to take the tube with a only 7 minutes walk. We preferred to use the city bikes: there are plenty and...

I chose to stay in this hotel due to its good location. The first impression from the lobby was misleading. I thought I'll be spending most of my time out in the city anyway, but the first evening my family and I all ended up staying in in a spacious hotel room, with a nice view and cold champagne. Each...

My fiancé and I stayed here for 3 nights in Sept 2015. The location was fantastic! We walked to all of the sights and museums. It is right across the street from the Louvre and a 15 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral. It is on a very quiet street with beautiful views. The only thing...

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel de l’Université is a former Benedictine convent and has retained many period features while adapting to the needs of 21st century society. The reception area is vast and delightful with its ancient beams. It is an immediate illustration of the style and appeal of this quality establishment. The Hotel de l’Université only has 27 bedrooms, allowing the staff to focus on an individualized care. Each room has its own decor and character, many ornate with ageless beams, but all benefiting from tall traditional Parisian windows allowing daylight to flood in. All the rooms have been renovated in 2011 and include air-conditioning, mini-bar, safety deposit box and a free Wi-Fi connection. A laundry service is available upon request. The rooms on the top floor overlook the rooftops of Paris and some have the rare bonus of a private terrace. The Hotel de l’Université is not a place to stay for the night. It is a journey into the history and style of Parisian life, a chance to experience life as one of the locals and bring back unforgettable memories. ... more   less
