The location is really great. Very convenient to a lot of the sights and attractions. Awesome surrounding neighbourhood with good restaurants close by. Staff are mostly very friendly. The breakfast was very nice and they were eager to serve coffees when we would come back from our daily excursions. They helped to arrange a taxi for one of our family...

This hotel was in the very best location! Easy walk to museums, eateries, on a mellow street with many galleries. We walked up to the sixth arrondissment where it was busier with wall to wall cafes. I liked our Seventh arrondissment better. Loved our room. We went for the superior which is a bit larger. Cozy bed, nice bathroom, big...

This is my favorite place to stay in Paris. The hotel is very convenient and the rooms have a boutique feel to them. The staff are very helpful but low-key, which is very much appreciated. Bike rental station is close by and there are small cafes nearby. The street is also a very quiet section.

We stayed at this hotel on the recommendation of a relative, and we were not disappointed. The hotel is perfectly situated in Paris. We could easily walk to most touristy sites, or just as easily catch the Metro or a cab. The hotel accommodations were clean and comfortable. The front staff, especially Michel, is phenomenal. They greeted us warmly from...

Our room was large and well appointed, with a king-sized bed, round table, desk, comfortable chairs and good lighting. It faced the street and got lots of natural light. The bathroom was modern and highly functional. The staff, particularly the gentleman who mans the front desk during the day, was cordial and helpful. The hotel's location is perfect for exploring...

I stayed here for 3 nights prior to heading north. From the first moment we walked in the door the staff could not be more friendly or helpful. We were assisted with tickets to various museums and shows. The lift is a little slow so take to the stairs. Rooms are good size and very clean with modern bathrooms. Location...

We were looking for a nice hotel in Paris and this hotel had appeared to have everything we were looking for: good rating, price and location. After staying there for two nights we can confirm that this is a wonderful hotel. The rooms are clean and large enough. Perfect location and fantastic staff, all very helpful and considerate. Highly recommended.

This is not a fancy, all-the-bells-and-whistles hotel. It is small, modest, and lovely. The staff are all supremely helpful and friendly. Rooms are small (mine was, at least) and the amenities are not extensive -- and I couldn't have cared in the least. I was able to stay in the middle of a great neighborhood, on a quiet street, just...

Spot on, couldn't fault the hotel. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Location of the hotel is great too. Rooms are huge and just been done up. Cost was very well priced compared to most of Paris. Would stay here again with out a doubt.

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel de l’Université is a former Benedictine convent and has retained many period features while adapting to the needs of 21st century society. The reception area is vast and delightful with its ancient beams. It is an immediate illustration of the style and appeal of this quality establishment. The Hotel de l’Université only has 27 bedrooms, allowing the staff to focus on an individualized care. Each room has its own decor and character, many ornate with ageless beams, but all benefiting from tall traditional Parisian windows allowing daylight to flood in. All the rooms have been renovated in 2011 and include air-conditioning, mini-bar, safety deposit box and a free Wi-Fi connection. A laundry service is available upon request. The rooms on the top floor overlook the rooftops of Paris and some have the rare bonus of a private terrace. The Hotel de l’Université is not a place to stay for the night. It is a journey into the history and style of Parisian life, a chance to experience life as one of the locals and bring back unforgettable memories. ... more   less
